Beeman Memorial Playground Renovation

The renovation project of the Beeman Memorial Playground seems to be nearing completion. We visited just as the final bell rang one afternoon last week and I can attest to the shiny new equipment and soft groundcover. This was mostly federally funded and the new “up-do” is looking great for our children!

Some Then and Now — pat morss

It’s been slow recently for our waterfront and wildlife activity, so here are some photos that didn’t “fit the theme” a while back, followed by a few from our recent walks.

Herring Gulls have adapted happily to Gloucester’s LED streetlights.
An expert at camouflage.
A replica of the 1812 Baltimore Privateer Lynx visited us last August.
A quiet father and son afternoon, fishing off the Jodrey State Fish Pier.
Other fishermen faced more challenging conditions for casting.
And came prepared, whatever the weather.
Just recently, a relaxed Northern Mockingbird greeted us at eye level, Niles Pond.
Male Greater Scaups, leisurely cruising.
Nearly precise choreography – Mergansers clockwise, Mallards counter-clockwise.
A content Mallard in the late afternoon sun.
Our friend Wiley Coyote hunting rodents in the early morning sun.

Our Stately City Hall

It’s not generally advertised as a museum, but perhaps our City Hall should be described as such. There is a wealth of history and artwork on display throughout City Hall, some small and some larger than life. Next time you are there, maybe take some extra time to really look around. Our City is certainly blessed.

Friday Update: Our Friend Scottie Mac Needs Our Help. Please share This information From His Family and Friends

More importantly- Scotties health. Today Scottie had a friend by his side and at one point, even though heavily sedated he spoke for the first time- “BL, get me the fuck out of here.”

Still waiting on more testing, Scottie is being taken to a neurologist. His girlfriend Alison and Aunt Terry have tickets to head to Jamaica in the morning.

The Better Together Venmo account has raised $35,000 at this point and the Bank account should be in very good shape.
