Anyone Ever Seen A Crab Like This?

strange crab

I never have in all my years of exploring beaches and tidal pools. Does anyone know what it is?

From Wikipedia-

Libinia emarginata is roughly triangular in outline and very heavily calcified, with a carapace about 4 in (100 mm) long and a leg span of 12 inches (300 mm).[4] The whole crab is khaki, and the carapace is covered in spines andtubercles,[5] and, as with other decorator crabs, often clothes itself in debris and small invertebrates.[4]

Gloucester PD was able to raise $3,770.00 IN Toss Your Boss Challenge

Here’s Chief Campanello-

Hi Joey,
I just wanted to thank your readers and everyone who supported the Special Olympics “Over the Edge” and “Toss Your Boss” Fundraiser this past weekend at the Hyatt Regency in Boston. Gloucester PD was able to raise $3,770.00 and counting. I would like to especially thank our 3 biggest supporters: GORTONS, ST. PETERS CLUB, and PETER AND KATHY COAKLEY. and of course thanks to all who contributed to make this a success.
Scaling down a 23 story building is not my first choice of a Saturday activity. But I can tell you that the money raised was well worth it and the special athletes who were there to cheer you on was a big boost to anyone who was apprehensive. My “toss” went at 1pm and there were several Chiefs from neighboring communities to make sure I knew how high up I was. They also did me the great favor of filling out my “fun facts” sheet (which the event organizers read over a speaker system as you are descending). Because of this, I was able to learn all sorts of new things about myself, such as how I had always wanted to be a firefighter, but was afraid of heights or how I had special place in my heart for puppies and “My little pony”, or best of all, how I had a tattoo on my left calf of Barry Manilow. With friends like this supporting you…how could a Chief go wrong? It was all in good fun and when your dangling 200 ft. above concrete, it was nice to have a chuckle.
Was hoping to have some pics for you…haven’t got them yet. Much thanks to all who contributed.
Respectfully,
Leonard Campanello

Are women attracted to dudes that wear t shirts that are way too small?

Usually seen worn by middle aged dudes that got back into shape after years of letting themselves go and/or gay men.

Is this an attractive look ladies?

More than just a Lighthouse Tour with Captain Donald Steele

_2014_07_19_045506 Stitch

IMG_3650Harbor Tours provides a tour of six Lighthouse tour on Cape Ann, (Ten Pound Island, Eastern Point, Straitsmouth, Thacher and Annisquam Lighthouses). The tour is far more; it is narrated by Captain Donald Steele; who gives the history of Cape Ann and the many points of interest; you seethe many islands along the coast line, local and private beaches, and some celebrities’ homes along the shore. As a Gloucester native he tells stories of the many storms, that occurred along the rough coast line of Cape Ann.

The tour is a must for locals and Gloucester visitors. In the slideshow you will see the many delighted faces of people on the tour that I went on this past weekend.

One Paddler’s take on this year’s Blackburn Challenge

A Blackburn Weekend

To say I look forward to participating in the Cape Ann Rowing Club’s annual Blackburn Challenge each and every year would be an understatement.  Sandwiching the event into 3 nights of camping at Cape Ann Camp Site allows this paddler to get closer to a Cape Ann state of mind.
So before earning the right to wear this year’s T-shirt (at left), a few days were spent paddling about the Jones and Annisquam rivers, swimming at Wingaersheek Beach, and enjoying the taste of Cape Ann’s seafood (my favorite was the fish chowder at the Causeway Restaurant).
And then, at last, yesterday morning the day of the event arrived and I paddled off from the campground…
