My View of Life on the Dock

It was really nice to see our mother Pat enjoying this past weekend with friends from the south shore, that she and our father met in Naples Florida where they all wintered together for several years.  Friends Pat and Marie had mom laughing into the wee hours of the morning as they enjoyed each other company during their 3 day “Girlfriends Weekend” playing tourists by day and BFF Slumber Party by night! Thank you Pat and Marie for being such a great friend to our mother.
Mom Requested Muddica Steak Dinner at Niles on Friday evening… they were thrilled to catch the beautiful sunset while dinning on the beach!
Harbor Tours provides a tour of six Lighthouse tour on Cape Ann, (Ten Pound Island, Eastern Point, Straitsmouth, Thacher and Annisquam Lighthouses). The tour is far more; it is narrated by Captain Donald Steele; who gives the history of Cape Ann and the many points of interest; you seethe many islands along the coast line, local and private beaches, and some celebrities’ homes along the shore. As a Gloucester native he tells stories of the many storms, that occurred along the rough coast line of Cape Ann.
The tour is a must for locals and Gloucester visitors. In the slideshow you will see the many delighted faces of people on the tour that I went on this past weekend.

To say I look forward to participating in the Cape Ann Rowing Club’s annual Blackburn Challenge each and every year would be an understatement. Sandwiching the event into 3 nights of camping at Cape Ann Camp Site allows this paddler to get closer to a Cape Ann state of mind.
So before earning the right to wear this year’s T-shirt (at left), a few days were spent paddling about the Jones and Annisquam rivers, swimming at Wingaersheek Beach, and enjoying the taste of Cape Ann’s seafood (my favorite was the fish chowder at the Causeway Restaurant).
And then, at last, yesterday morning the day of the event arrived and I paddled off from the campground…

From Cape Ann TV’s Lisa Smith:
On the Waterfront is a brand new, original production from Cape Ann TV. The show takes an in-depth look at the Cape Ann ecosystem, highlighting the people and businesses that rely on the ocean for survival. The premiere episode features the lifecycle of the clam. Shep Means, a clammer from Essex and Gloucester hosts the show. Join Shep as he goes digging on the clam flats and the beach, stops by Essex Shellfish to weigh them up, then visits Intershell to see them shucked and packaged, and finally to Woodman’s to fry them and eat them.

Hi Joe – I don’t suppose this is something GMG does, but someone stole a folding table while we were setting up. It was for young artists from the NationalAlliance on Mental Illness, so they had no table to use. I know it’s unlikely the thief that stole it will return it, but I’d like them to at least know they stink! If they want to return it and leave it in the entrance way to Fred Bodin’s shop – no questions asked. It’s blue and says "Return to Val" on the underside. Here’s a similar one in white, ours is light blue. I understand if you don’t wish to post.
Thanks,
Val
