Self-Storage to the Rescue!

The holiday season brings joy, but it also brings clutter. Renting a self-storage unit can help you create more space at home. Here’s how:

  1. Make Room for Guests
Store bulky furniture to create a welcoming space for family and friends staying over.
  2. Store Holiday Decorations
Keep your seasonal décor safe in a storage unit, freeing up space at home once the holidays are over.
  3. Declutter for Less Stress
Clear out non-essential items to make your home more spacious and relaxing during the busy season.
  4. Hide and Store Gifts
Use a storage unit to hide gifts from curious eyes or store new purchases before giving them.
  5. Rotate Seasonal Items
Easily swap out seasonal items, like summer gear or winter decorations, to keep your home organized year-round.
  6. Free Up Garage Space
Store less critical items to make room for parking or winter equipment in your garage.
  7. Flexible Options
Grove Street Self Storage offers a variety of unit sizes with short-term options to suit your holiday needs.

Hanneke Cassel at Shalin Liu Performance Center November 15

8 p.m. Friday

Shalin Liu Performance Center,
37 Main Street in Rockport, Mass.

Effervescent and engaging, Boston-based fiddler Hanneke Cassel’s fiddle music fuses influences from the Isle of Skye and Cape Breton with Americana grooves and musical innovations. Her music is a blend of the contemporary and traditional, described by the Boston Globe as “exuberant and rhythmic, somehow wild and innocent, delivered with captivating melodic clarity and an irresistible playfulness.”  For this duo project, Hanneke joins forces with pianist Dave Wiesler who has built a national reputation for his rhythmic and innovative piano playing, and his sensitive accompaniment of dance music, choruses, and soloists.  Hanneke and Dave have played together for over 20 years, recorded together on six albums, and have toured the East coast of the United States and across France, performing concerts and playing for Scottish Country Dances.

Keith Murphy and Yann Falquet are masters of contemporary Celtic guitar, representing the compelling textures, harmonies and rhythms that the guitar has brought to traditional songs and instrumentals since the Celtic music revival in the 1970s. As singers, they bring a rich blending of the Franco and Anglo song traditions. Falquet comes with a wealth of songs from the French-Canadian tradition. He is probably best known for his work with the Quebecois trio, Genticorum, with whom he has been a driving force since the group’s inception.  Murphy is a highly respected traditional singer and brings a song repertoire filled with gems from his native Newfoundland as well as Quebec and his current home, Vermont. He was a founding member of the groundbreaking trio, Nightingale. https://www.hannekecassel.com/

Chief Edward Conley is pleased to share that Gloucester Police Community Navigator Tito Rodriguez is being recognized at the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus 2024 Latino Excellence Awards.

The 2024 Latino Excellence Awards will be held on Oct. 25 in Boston and Community Navigator Rodriguez was one of roughly 25 individuals who will be recognized during an awards ceremony.

Community Navigator Rodriguez has been with the Gloucester Police Department since 2020 when the department implemented the Community Impact Unit. The goal of the unit is to provide and secure relationship-based connections to a continuum of care for individuals with a substance misuse disorder and to guide individuals to other services and resources including, mental health, housing, education, and more. In his role as Community Navigator, Rodriguez provides a collaborative and engaging environment for those who struggle with substance misuse. He establishes working relations with individuals and organizations to help target those in need of assistance and directs individuals to the appropriate support services. Throughout his role, Rodriguez’s main focus has been helping people by establishing connections and implementing harm reduction strategies for those in active addiction.

“I want to congratulate Tito Rodriguez for this well-deserved recognition,” said Chief Conley. “Tito goes above and beyond for our community providing necessary resources and support to those who are struggling with substance misuse or addiction. We are lucky to have him on our team, helping to support every individual in all aspects of life. I am honored to be able to see him grow here at the department and truly expand our Community Impact Unit.”
