I justĀ placed my orderĀ for lamb chopsĀ with the meat department manager at the Gloucester Crossings Market Basket…he highly recommends calling your Lamb Chop order in early today.Ā MarketĀ Basket Lamb ChopsĀ $19.99 lb.,Danvers Butchery $24.99, and BJ Wholesale Club $16.99Ā Yes they are expensive but so worth it …
Grilled Lamb Chops with Creamy Dill Cucumber Dipping Sauce
This recipe was created several years ago, on a whim, using ingredients I had on hand in my pantry. The combination of flavors from the herbed marinated grilled chops are perfectly balanced with the Creamy Dill Cucumber Dipping Sauce. To say they are incredibly tasty is a huge understatement! These Grilled Lamb Chops have become the highlight of our Easter meal. I guarantee that they will disappear from the serving platter in minutes, and strongly recommend setting some aside for yourself if your the one cooking Easter Dinner!

While the charm and beauty of Rockport never gets old, one of my favorite parts of my evening walk/run with Marlin is the window shopping throughout downtown Rockport. Quintessential New England, for sure. Ā We have such a huge collection of absolutely fantastic shops with such wonderful diversity. There truly is not much that can not be purchased locally! If you haven’t, for whatever reason, spent time walking and shopping through Rockport, you are missing out.
I have been getting a kick out of photographing door fronts and displays during this sleepy season as Rockport begins to wake up from it’s winter nap. Ā It will not be long until ice cream is dripping down arms, the doors open full-time, and the shopping can begin in full force. Ā Make a point to visit…and visit often.
That all being the case, I was very happy to hear from Pamela Wasserman, of Good Dog Gallery on Bearskin Neck. Ā I am also happy to share her words…
“When I first heard Black Dog was coming to town I quickly realized exactly what it means when they say “competition is good for a town!” I immediately wanted to make my place bigger and better than it was before. Ā However, just as I was securing a new, larger space, my mother fell ill and I spent the entire winter assisting her. The pressure of simultaneously renovating a bigger, more expensive space was simply not possible.
Another dog-themed store will only portray Rockport as an even more dog-oriented town! Someone came up to me the other day and said, “There’s TOP DOG, there’s GOOD DOG and now there’s BLACK DOG!” Rockport is indeed known to be very a very dog-friendly town. It may be due to such a low traffic level on Bearskin Neck. Ā The lack of traffic encourages people to come walk their dogs, shop, and especially to grab a treat at Roy Moore’s and then over to Good Dog Gallery. Water dishes line the streets of Bearskin Neck, waiting for thirsty pups.
Celebrating Good Dog Gallery’s 10th year in Rockport, I am proud and honored to have so many returning customers dropping in to say “hello”, to grab a treat, or to do some shopping after the long, wicked winter we’ve had! Spring is a wonderful time to see all those familiar faces, wet noses and wagging tails!
Having moved here after 20 years in Woodstock, Vermont, I chose Rockport to showcase all the doggie goodies we have today. Those items include the delightful art, books and gift items of celebrated dog artist and sculptor, Stephen Huneck, whose flagship gallery that I managed for years, was located in Woodstock, Vermont. He has since passed, but his delightful, light-hearted dog art remains very popular, recognizable and highly collected.
We at Good Dog Gallery not only take doggie humor very seriously, hence the GREETINGS mat in the window, depicting one dog sniffing the other dog’s butt, but we take pride in all the products we offer. We assist in fitting each dog to the proper harness, sweater, or coat. There is a great selection of collars and leashes to choose from. We maintain a gourmet “Barkery” with all natural ingredients made in New England. Ā We even feature the ever popular crispy, crunchy, dehydrated and locally caught, Cod Skins, made right here in Rockport! Yes….Good Dog Gallery’s owner has the glamorous job of hand rolling and dehydrating those cod skins for up to 14 hours! As our slogan states: “Everyone makes the same face, but they keep coming back for more!!!!” And boy, do they!
We may be small, with only one location to focus our passion on, but we have gone to great lengths to find and offer dog art and unique gifts for every dog-lover and a great selection of dog gear + treats that keep tails waggin’!
So, as we say at Good Dog Gallery, “C’mon in and have a sniff around!”Ā GOOD DOGS WELCOME!”

Al Bezanson submits-
The Gulf of Maine Chapter of the American Schooner Association in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Schooner Association announces a new radio program to be aired jointly on PBS and CBC, “Wicked Cod.” The show will feature a multi-national schooner fleet under sail scouring the Gulf of Maine in search of a codfish. The rules stipulate hook and line fishing only, and if a cod is actually captured it will be measured and released without disclosing its location. The program will be broadcast continually. Further details to follow.

Beverly, MA. Ā M.E. Productions is excited to present The New Orleans Suspects with Little Featās Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett at the Larcom Theatre on Saturday, April 11th at 8pm. Ā The Suspects are known as a NOLA supergroup, and Barrere & Tackett as multi instrumental jam pioneers. Ā Ā The night will culminate with a full set of the music of Little Feat. Ā Tickets for this concert start at $35..
The New Orleans Suspects
Little Featās Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett
Music of the Big Easy. Ā Itās as American as apple pie–and rock ān roll itself. Ā It transcends boundaries, a freewheeling fusion of California rock, Dixie-inflected roots, and country-fried funk and boogie. Ā For one night only, New Orleans Suspects will join forces with Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett of Little Feat. Don’t miss a rare and intimate show with the men who continue to bring you Little Feat(on an ā indefinite hiatusā), and a NOLA superband. Ā Yep, we said itā¦superband.
The New Orleans Suspects formed in summer of 2011 in the wake of the breakup of The Radiators after 34 years. The band comprises some of the best, most highly respected players in New Orleans, including: Reggie Scanlan on bass (Radiators, Professor Longhair Band); Mean Willie Green on drums (Neville Bros. current drummer since 1981); Jeff Watkins (James Brown Band, Joss Stone Band) on saxophone; Jake Eckert on guitar/vocals (current member of The Dirty Dozen Brass Band); and CR Gruver on keyboards and vocals (Polytoxic, Outformation).
Paul Barrere plays a mean slide guitar, and sings lead and background vocals for Little Feat. He joined Little Feat for the band’s third album Dixie Chicken, and the rest is history with his guitar, vocals, and songwriting becoming an important part of the Little Feat sound. Ā Fred Tackett plays guitar, trumpet, and mandolin for Little Feat. Hailing from Arkansas, Fred Tackett worked as a side man on many Little Feat albums before becoming a full member of the band for Let It Roll. Along with his fine guitar work, Fred’s mandolin and trumpet have become a featured part of the Little Feat sound. The duo first played together on the album āDixie Chicken” some thirty-five years ago.
The night will begin with a set from Barrere & Tackett, then The New Orleans Suspects will perform a full set of their own material. If that wasn’t enough, the two groups will join forces at the end of the night for a crowd pleasing set of Little Feat tunes.
āWe have so many great shows on the North Shoreā¦but weāre pretty excited about this one. Ā Itāsgoing to be FUN,ā say Seth McNally of M.E. Productions. Ā āIf you like New Orleans music, or Little Feat, mark your calendar.ā
Tickets to see NOLA Suspects with Barrere and Tackett are $30, $35, and $40 for premier seating. Ā For tickets and more information visit www.larcomtheater.com or call 978-525-9093

I decided to shop “Harbor Loop Gifts,” located at the Building Center on Harbor Loop here in Gloucester for useful items to fill a nontraditional Easter Basket filled with my beloved Mariposa tableware! Harbor Loop Gifts has a wonderful assortment of collectable pieces from the LocalĀ āMariposaā companyās product line, and is my go to store to purchase gifts of Mariposa for friends and family throughout the year! Ā One of the great things about gifting Mariposa aside from the fact it always makes a perfect gift for any occasion, is that itās sold at many different price points. I fell in love with the Starfish Salt & Pepper Set, Butter Dish and Trivet on display at the store. Below are a few photos of the Starfish pieces arranged in baskets that I prepared and brought with me to the store, to use as props to highlight a few gift basket ideas for last minute Easter shoppers!
