Here’s tomorrow’s victim.

Update 6:00AM

Bust the Loin Roast out of the package and prepare the rub.

Cut a criss-cross pattern in the fat cap to get the rub to penetrate in there and create a nice flavorful bark on top.

When I selected this particular NY Strip Loin Roast I looked for the one that had the most fat throughout as this fat will render fantastic flavor through the slow smoking process when it renders down.

Start out by slathering on a coating of EVOO and coating it with coarse salt and black pepper.

The next layer of flavor will be a coating of Montreal steak and chop seasoning.

We’ll let her sit for an hour or so while we build our smoke using the minion method in the Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker.

Anyone Know what is going on?

Coast Guard helicopter and boat all over Smiths Cove and inner harbor.  Does anyone know what is going on?  They are doing a lot of hovering and searching.  They are really aggressively searching Smiths Cove.

Stinky Dead Whale on Back Shore

stinky whale

While walking the back shore a couple of days ago, I encountered a really bad smell just before Land’s End Lane.  I just had to investigate what it was, and found this small dead whale on the rocks.  He’s been there a while.  I couldn’t help but wonder if he might have gotten stranded around the time Martin Del Vecchio got that great right whale video, and maybe that whale was trying to help out this youngster who was in trouble caught up on the rocks.   We’ll never know, but it was sad to see it.
