Lisa Steinocher Represents! In San Diego

Dear Joey,
Hope you remember meeting my Dad and me on your dock summer 2014. I’m the missed placed yankee who lives too far inland and my Dad’s an original Gloucester boy.  I was so honored when I received my stickers from you and forgot to share my trip to San Diego fall of 2014 to visit my daughter. Well it’s that daughters birthday today so in honor of her 25th bday I am sending you this picture. We weren’t able to get to Gloucester last summer but hoping the whole family can make it this year, including my daughter and son in law in San Diego!

Traffic Stopped 128 South, Manchester

The traffic is at a standstill in Manchester (and probably further back by now) due to an accident before the Manchester athletic club and exit 15.  I hope that everyone is OK.  plan accordingly. Four additional spin outs after the accident clears as well. One headed northbound. The roads are very icy. Be safe out there!

Update:  As soon as we got past this accident there were several “spin outs” and smaller accidents…both North and South bound.

Just wow. Wonder what the feeling was like when they made it to the end…

Last summer I quit my job in order to walk the 2650 mile Pacific Crest Trail in its entirety. Along the way I took hundreds of videos and taught myself to play ukulele. The song is one I composed myself on trail.

8 Years in the Carving: Morgan Faulds Pike MasterAltarpiece nearly finished

pictures from Morgan’s website

Cat Ryan submits-

Realism in so many particulars, gestures, and glances is difficult to capture in any media. One of the impressive commissions Morgan Faulds Pike has been immersed in these last eight years, a special carved wooden altarpiece, is nearly complete. It’s a gentle, quiet stunner made up of a center panel and two side panels. Morgan created the reliquary, too.

St. Mary’s in Rockport is raising money for its installation. Follow this Crowdfunding link for more details. Donations can be sent directly to St. Mary’s and marked “Reredos”, Attn: Rev Karin E Wade, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 24 Broadway, Rockport, 01966

‘Reredos’ describes the freestanding art behind (and above) an altar.

A photo history of the project is available at MorganFauldsPike.com.

Searing #Ribeye #Steak Using The Charcoal Basket On The @STOKGrills Charcoal Drum To Create A Vortex Like Heat Source

More from Joey’s Pit-

I’ve seen an accessory for kettle BBQ grills called The Vortex. It’s a cone- like structure that funnels the air up through the coals and creates an intense amount of heat for searing steaks. It costs over $40 and people that have purchased them rave about them.
The thing is, the STOK Charcoal Drum comes with an insert that is supposed to be used as a chimney but it’s the same shape as The Vortex.
I decided to flip the Charcoal insert that comes with the STOK Drum upside down and see if it would do the same thing as the Vortex.
Here’s how it went-
Flipped the Charcoal insert upside down, dropped in a crumpled piece of newspaper lit it and filled it with Charcoal and waited for the temps to climb.

Tossed the ribeye on, three minutes, then flipped for three minutes on the other side.

TEN POUND ISLAND AT TWILIGHT

Ten Pound Island just after sunset ~ As the sun was setting, hundreds of gulls poured onto the shoreline, along with Red-breasted Mergansers and Common Eiders. If there were other species, they were too far off to identify, nonetheless, it was fascinating to watch all the birds settling into the trees and rocky outcroppings for the evening.

SUGAR MAGNOLIAS HAS REOPENED FOR THE SEASON! !

FullSizeRender (34)Thank you to Jenn Cullen for posting to Instagram her photo of one of Sugar Magnolia’s new super salads. It looked so yummy, I just had to try it for myself. The roasted veggie, kale, almond, craisin, bulgur wheat, and goat cheese salad was fantastic. Crab cakes added to the order made an exquisite and filling lunch, so huge in fact, I brought half home for lunch tomorrow. My husband had one of Sugar Mag’s classic favorites, the corn chowder with jerk and honey grilled salmon. You’ll find an enticing array of new menu items and, not to worry, everyone’s old favorites, too. I can’t wait to try more ❤
