My View of Life on the Dock

The Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) invites New England artists to submit work to āA Visual Feastā a six-week exhibition at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, 6 Wonson Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
RNAC seeks a mix of contemporary, experimental and traditional works of art suggested by the title “A Visual Feast.” The art could rock with realism, stun in still life, interpret abundance in line, color, pattern, or abstraction. If you live in Gloucester, you most likely listen to North Shore 104.9 FM radio for local news, happenings, Red Sox games, classic rock and the best local morning show on radio, hosted by Dana Hersey & Kevin McGonagle (Mugs) who lives in Gloucester.
Tomorrow morning (5/11) at about 8:30 localĀ vocalist Miranda Russell will be their guest.
Miranda will give a little preview of her concert next Saturday, May 21 (right down the road at The Larcom Theatre,Ā Beverly’s most intimate, acoustically stellar listening room) and perhaps a bit about what to look for this season at Russell Orchards (her farm in Ipswich) and probably a surprise or two.
Dana & Mugs are always entertaining — and when they’re joined by a world-class entertainer it’s even more fun. Ā Check them out!
Here’s a taste of what you can expect from Miranda at her concert on May 21. Tickets (starting at only $19.00) are still available, but they’re selling fast. Ā The best seats are in the balcony. Ā Get them here.
Do you like stories told from the heart? Do you listen to NPR’s Moth Radio Hour? Well, you owe it to yourself to go to the Rocky Neck Cultural Center on Friday evening for this presentation of Fish Tales from the Gloucester Writers Center. These will be true stories told by people you know. It doesn’t get much more real than this.
If you missed the last one,Ā Tattoo Show and Tell, here’s a link to the video from Henry Ferrini.

A couple of years ago, because of research I was doing about Gordon Parks in Gloucester and thankfully Joey posted on Good Morning Gloucester, I was able to interview Manny and Joanna Carrancho. Manny and his family spent considerable time giving me a detailed account of earlierĀ events in their lives. They shared treasured historic photos and first hand knowledge and were a delight. Ā Part 2 photographs continue with a town procession from the state pier to the church. Ā

The the view is looking better and better everyday! Ā Grateful for the views that surround us! Ā Happy Gratituesday!
Now that I try to take both dogs on my run/walk in the afternoon, I am hard pressed to take photos. Ā For anyone who has chanced upon me taking a Nantucket Sleigh Ride through town while being pulled by 100 pounds of dog can confirm that.
This intrigued me too much though to not stop last night. Ā 6:30 in the evening and no one in sight.

The Riverbend restaurant still under construction is coming to the Essex Marina area with a target date of sometime in June. Great views from this spot of the marshes and Essex River. They are still looking for help in the wait staff and bartending positions. More to follow.

Does anyone know what the space through which the rudder post runs is called?
