Moving Art, Art Supplies and Equipment Sale
I will be moving from Rocky Neck over the cut bridge to Kent Circle on September 1 to resume caring for my mother in a new, larger place. On Saturday and Sunday, August 20 & 21 from 9-6:00, I will be having a moving yard and art sale which will include prior years paintings, photos, etc., plus art supplies, tools and equipment (including frames, glass, kraft paper, paints, brushes, picture wire, etc.), jewelry making supplies (findings, stones, beads, etc.) and more. Hobbit House Studio, 1 Wonson Street (behind Sailor Stan’s) on Rocky Neck. Come by and say hi, and find a treasure or two.
Once settled, I’d love to have people come for a housewarming Mug Up in September when some dear FOB’s will be here visiting from afar. Date to be announced.

Looking Very Close….and Confusing
In honor of this summer’s Olympics… Here is a blast from the past and the London Olympics.
While a few years old, this still totally kills me. I LOVE the commentator (real or not). “There you can hear the Olympic horn being sounded. Signifies there’s only four minutes left in this race. And it’s looking very close and….confusing.”
You really need to watch to the end.

Gloucester Rotary Club Announces Photography Contest
The Gloucester Rotary Club will publish a 12-month Cape Ann photo calendar for 2017 as a fundraiser. All profits will go to the Gloucester Rotary Club’s efforts to raise money that supports the many community and international activities in which the club is involved.
In Order to publish a beautiful calendar, the Club is requesting high quality digital photos that show the unique beauty of Cape Ann throughout the year. Gloucester photos are preferred, but images from other Cape Ann towns will be considered. Water—either ocean or tidal river—must be visible somewhere in all entries. Images from each season: winter, spring, summer and fall are encouraged. A selection committee from the Rotary Club will make the choices.
Full contest rules and requirements are available online at www.gloucesterotary.us. All entries must be received by 12:00 p.m. on September 16, 2016.
More information about the Rotary Club of Gloucester is available online at www.gloucesterrotary.us and www.facebook.com/RotaryGloucesterMA.
The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

Lexicon is very excited to have Martha Grover coming to our neck of the woods to teach this two day, hands-on workshop.
Participants will work with bottomless wheel-thrown forms and slabs in both the soft and leather-hard stages. These will include her signature cups, bowls, vases, pitchers, lidded forms, and baskets. Each new form will be demonstrated by Martha then practiced by participants, moving from simpler to more complex construction over the course of the two days.
Martha will also address a range of topics of interest to working and aspiring potters, including crack repair and mending, the use of the spray gun for glaze application, successful studio practices, any special topics requested by the class, and her sources of inspiration and philosophy of making.
