Walking down Shore Road noticed this rock and thought it looked like a whale. Interesting rock formations are everywhere.   Take the time and look.

GHS boys play a great second half after allowing Lynn to get ahead 21-0 but run out of time and loose at end of great game. The final was 21-19. They have a lot of football left to play and they will be back!!

Gloucester Rotary Trivia Night

The Rotary Club of Gloucester will host a Trivia Night on Friday, October 27, at the Gloucester House, located at 63 Rogers Street in downtown Gloucester. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the game will begin at 7 p.m.  Teams of four will compete for the title of Cape Ann Trivia Champions.

All trivia fans are invited to this fun night of knowledge and laughter. The registration fee is $100 for a team of four players.  Proceeds from this event will support programs of the Gloucester Rotary Club.  The night will also feature a 50/50 raffle, a cash bar, and light snacks for purchase.

Yuck and double yuck, but very cool. Commissioner Ainsley Smith of Gloucester’s Clean City Commission shares a photo of cigarette butts collected in the City’s new Sidewalk Butlers. Initially, twenty butlers will be installed, mostly along Main and Rogers Street. The butlers were made possible by a grant from Keep America Beautiful.

Many thanks to Ainsley and fellow commissioners Eric Magers, Beverly Low, and Nick Iliades, and to all who are working so hard to keep Gloucester beautiful!

Holiday Fair Call for Entries

Local Businesses invited to participate in a holiday fair to support a local family in need.

The fair will be November 5th from 12-4 at the Magnolia Library.

The cost of the tables are $40 to cover the cost of the Library and whatever is left over will be donated to a Gloucester Family that has a sick family member so that we may provide their Thanksgiving dinner.

Confirmation from all vendors and their fee must be in by October 21st.

The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce’s Businesswomen’s Fall luncheon will have Hannah Kimberley as their guest speaker. I have read Hannah’s book and it is terrific and very hard to put down.

The Businesswomen’s Committee raises fun for the Carolyn B. O’Connor Scholarship Fund. This is a Scholarship awarded each year to a woman back who is going back to school who for whatever reason, was not able to finish her education and now seeks to better position in life. We are very proud to fund and award this Scholarship. This year we will meet at the Gloucester House Restaurant. Local author Hannah Will be our guest speaker.

Choice of meal includes: Baked Haddock or Yankee Pot Roast

HANNAH KIMBERLEY is an academic who has made Annie Smith Peck the focus of her scholarship, resulting in her book A Woman’s Place Is at the Top. She is considered the authority on Peck and her work is referenced for numerous publications such as American National Biography and National Geographic,anthologies on women explorers and works of history such as A World of Her Own: 24 Amazing Women Explorers and Adventurers, and publications by the Rhode Island Historical Society.
