Backyard Boat Show

I loved Donna’s pictures of the New England Boat show recently, but I have to add that we have our very own boat show right here most days! These were all taken recently on the same day and I had to take note of the variety of ways to be out on our harbor waters.

PAT MORS SHARES PHOTOS OF RAZORBILLS AND KITTIWAKES FROM THEIR NORWEGIAN BREEDING GOUNDS

Pat Morss writes,

In response to Mike’s sighting of Razorbills at the Dog Breakwater – exciting, Anne-Lise and I and family were in Norway last June to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 100th birthday and our 50th wedding anniversary.  We took a side trip north of the Arctic Circle to the Lofoten Islands.  On the island of Ross, we took a zodiak trip out to the “bird mountain” rookeries including Razorbills and Black-legged Kitttiwakes.

Best, Pat

Thanks so very much to Pat Morss for sharing the baby Harp Seal photos and story, and now the Razorbill photos. I think it wonderful for us to see the connection between these beautiful creatures visiting the shores of Cape Ann and their Arctic breeding grounds.

RECENT SIGHTINGS OF HECTOR, CAPE ANN’S VISITING BLACK VULTURE!

Over the weekend, many new of sightings of Hector, Gloucester and Rockport’s visiting Black Vulture, were reported. He was seen at residences all along East Main Street, back at the Rockport dump, and even in Rockport Harbor! Many thanks to reader Lauren T for sharing her photo.

Pet of the Week – Arrow

Arrow
My name is Arrow, I am a sweet 6 month old Shepherd Mix looking for a family of my own. I came up to Cape Ann Animal aid through Road Trip Home Animal Rescue. I was picked up by animal control and brought to the shelter and never claimed. Everyone immediately fell in love with me.
I am a little reserved and like to take my time settling in and getting to know everyone, but once I do I love to be pet and fussed over! I am really smart and know some basic commands like sit, and lay down. Come by and meet me and see for yourself and maybe take me home while your at it! I would do best in a home with children 12 and up who can respect my space.
To learn more about me or other animals waiting for homes, please come visit our shelter at 4 Paws Lane in Gloucester or check us out online at www.capeannanimalaid.org.
