Union Drum Corp Gloucester
Good morning Joey!

I came across this old photo in my files and thought you might want to post it. It is not dated but I would guess it’s from the late 1800’s…. and it does look like it was taken at Tuck’s Point in Manchester????
I don’t recognize anyone in the shot from my family but the drum says: Union Drum Corp Gloucester.
Would be fun if someone out there could tell me/us more about the group?
Best,
Jim Clyde

Free Monday Nia class for Seniors at 1 pm-New Location at MAGMA Studio Starts November 18th!
Free Nia class for all seniors on Cape Ann moves from the Rose Baker Center to MAGMA (Movement Arts Gloucester MA) 1 pm on Mondays!
Thanks to the generosity of Sarah Silfer-Swift at MAGMA, we are able to offer a free Nia class to all seniors on Cape Ann. Previously this class was held at the Rose Baker Center but due to their limited space and the growing class numbers, we are lucky to be able to dance in this beautiful studio. The center is accessible via elevator, see note below.
If you are a member of the Rose Baker Center, we will be keeping attendance as the center will continue to promote the class to its members. Thanks to Rose Baker Center Director, Lucy Sheehan for helping keep Nia available to its members.
If you have not tried Nia or have no idea what it is, read on.

GOOD MORNING BROUGHT TO YOU BY BRACE COVE SUNRISE AND SEASMOKE
Several days ago at daybreak after photographing the setting Moon, I popped over to Brace Cove. The temperature was 19, the wind was biting. and my hands were already frozen stiff from photographing the Moon. I only stayed for a moment but as you can see, the seas smoke was rising in the distance. Happy for the return of warmer temperatures, albeit however brief!
Off of Shore Road on Wednesday

Here was my question: Anyone know what this is called, it is a Meteorology term? Happens when it is very cold outside and it looks like a tanker that hovers over the ocean? Thanks
Catherine Hull was able to answer my questions. It’s an optical illusion. “The phenomenon is called a Fata Morgana mirage, and involves a complex trick of the light. Caused by a narrow band of light above the horizon, the Fata Morgana gives the impression an object is actually floating above the water. The mirage distorts an object, and can occur on land, sea, polar regions and deserts.”
