Rockport’s Winter Harbor

I took a quick drive around the Cape yesterday afternoon…post storm.  Bearskin Neck looked so sleepy when I stopped at Front Beach to watch the waves.  I do like how, while you can feel the chill in this photo, the pops of color still shine through.  Rockport is pretty no matter what the season.

#GLOUCESTERMA SNOWSTORM HIGH TIDE EASTERN POINT LIGHTHOUSE, BACKSHORE, GOOD HARBOR BEACH SURFERS, TWIN LIGHTS, AND TURKEYS

At sunset this evening, the skies cleared for a bit and one could see the snowstorm departing in an easterly direction, while more squalls were beginning to blow ashore from the west. The nearly half-Moon was rising over the marsh through the clouds. Swells along the backshore were larger than average, but nothing nearly as dramatic as the waves during a nor’easter. Perhaps the waves were bigger on the other side of the Island.

Although I didn’t get a snapshot, the small flock of Wild Turkeys was leaping about at the base of a bird feeder, hungrily looking for food. Which was actually pretty funny because grace is decidedly not a characteristic shared with these large-bottom birds. I wished I had a handful to give them.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE LOBSTER TRAP TREE LIGHTS POLL!!

The polling has shown fairly consistently that approximately 60 percent are in favor of multi-colored lights and 40 percent favor warm white lights.

The final number as of 6pm tonight is that of the 1,605 people who participated, 58.75 percent voted for multi-colored lights and 39.31 percent voted for warm white lights (1.9 percent voted for other).

Thank you so much to Everyone for voting!!!

Stormy Monday

A couple of photos from Monday as it was blowing, high tides, and rain.  You can see from the Magnolia Pier photo that making the pier 2 feet higher it will protect our beloved pier.  The waves off Kettle Island were very impressive.

Toby Told Me About Rino’s Place In East Boston About 6 Years Ago. It’s Everything He Said It Would Be

Our waitress Diana was so perfectly attentive. The food was as good if not better Italian that I’ve had anywhere. The prices sinfully inexpensive.

It’s worth the drive from Gloucester.

While here Mohamed Sanu comes in for takeout. $26 order and he leaves a $100 tip for the kitchen. Class act.

258 Saratoga Street East Boston.
