Duckworth’s Bistrot Announcement

Duckworth’s Bistrot has recently announced on its Facebook page that the difficult decision was reached NOT to open this summer. Their intimate atmosphere (which is what many of us LOVE about Duckworth’s) makes it impossible to safely social distance for safety. Neither is there appropriate outdoor space available. We will miss Duckworth’s but are in total support of their decision.

In the meantime, perhaps you’d still consider gift certificates for future meals at the bistro. All restaurants and most small businesses are struggling through the pandemic and gift certificate purchases show support. Give it some thought.

SurfSide Pizza Slice for Lunch

I had a craving that a pepperoni “slice” from SurfSide was able to satisfy. As I have mentioned previously, it’s my favorite since it’s the closest thing to the pizza I had as a kid growing up in western New York on the shores of Lake Erie. It did not disappoint yesterday, taking me all the way back to those good ole days. Looks like there’s a new mural going up over there!

Rain in the forecast? We got you covered at our Serenitee Restaurant Group Restaurants!

Don’t let weather ruin your plans!

All Serenitee Group restaurants are open for indoor dining, along with outdoor dining (weather permitting), takeout & delivery.

As a restaurant group, our goal to create a safe, fun environment for our guests to relax and enjoy themselves.

  • Upon arrival, all of our employees undergo a health screening, this includes having their temperature taken & oxygen levels read through a pulse oximeter.
  • All tables and chairs are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between each seating. Additionally, the entire restaurant is undergoing frequent and routine cleaning and sanitizing with EPA sanitizers.
  • All tables are positioned to maintain at least a six foot distance from all other tables and any high foot traffic areas.
  • All employees are required to wear face masks or coverings. Guests are also required to wear face mask or covering at all times unless you are seated at your table; this includes moving about the outdoor and indoor dining spaces, using the restrooms, or checking in with the host.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work together to ensure the safety and health of our staff and guests. To read our entire list of safety protocols and procedures click here.

How long will he last?

I have always been a fan of Cam Newton since he entered the scene.

According to a news article earlier this morning, Cam Newton said: “Don’t believe the hype,” while walking on a treadmill. “You know what I’m saying? I never once — and I say this right now — I never once wanted to leave Carolina.”

Question begs, do you think he will last the entire season? Do you think he will stay or go once his year is up?

Let’s not forget in October 2017 when he was raked over the coals for being sexist.

How many people have the Pats signed just to see them go after a game or before the season has begun?

Deer at Rest in the Meadow

It’s not very unusual for us to see deer here in the neighborhood, but it is very unusual to find TWO of them resting out in the open meadow not far from the roadside. I think perhaps the turkeys were the sentries while these two took a bit of a mid morning break on Hesperus Ave.

Star Gazing

When sitting on the beach around a fire the other night we noticed two really bright stars right next to each other.  I’m not super knowledgable when it comes to astronomy…and I was curious as to what those stars might be.  I downloaded Sky Venture Lite and started to point my phone towards the sky.  It was pretty interesting and will be fun for the boys this summer.  Below are screenshots taken from the app on my phone above the fire pit.

News for Aquarius on the Backshore

New signage has been posted for the Aquarius at the Backshore construction project. It appears these are 4 single family dwellings on the way: Oceana, Seaview, Equinox and Nautica.
