Gloucester Public Schools Need Your Help

The coronavirus shut down our schools for 66 days this spring. That’s over ⅓ of the school year. In a split second, teachers were forced to rethink entire teaching plans and move classrooms online. Administrators had to quickly find the technology and devices for 2,900 students to access remote learning. Children were forced to accept that they would only see their teachers and friends on a screen for the rest of the school year.
The pandemic has left Gloucester’s schools with unforeseen challenges, additional student support needs, increased expenses, and urgent needs for technology, supplies and resources to prepare for the coming school year.
The School Response Fund, created by Gloucester Education Foundation, will provide flexible support, so demands can be met quickly to current and evolving school needs. City of Gloucester to Allow Limited Non-Resident Parking This Weekend

City of Gloucester 2020 Beach Parking Stickers –Required as of Aug. 1 for resident access to Stage Fort Park and beach lots –In person processing suspended –Next day pick up available for those who note that on application

GLOUCESTER, MA – Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken today announced that 2020 beach parking stickers will be required for resident access into Stage Fort Park and beach lots as of Saturday, August 1.
Since the beginning of the season, and through July 31, resident parking has been available with a 2019 beach parking sticker or license and motor vehicle registration showing a Gloucester address.
Beach sticker applications are available for download on the City’s website by clicking on the “Beach Info” link on the home page and then “Beach Sticker Application.” Applications are also available outside the Warren Street entrance at Gloucester City Hall.
Completed applications should be mailed to Gloucester City Hall, PO Box 61, Gloucester, MA 01931 or deposited in one of the drop boxes at the Warren Street entrance at Gloucester City Hall.
Beach parking stickers will not be available for same day purchase. However, stickers are now available for in-person pick-up by 2 p.m. the next afternoon. Residents who prefer next day pick up must note that on their application. Applications received with no note will be processed and the beach parking sticker will be mailed out.
Applicants are encouraged to read the instructions carefully and be sure to include all supporting documentation. Any missing documentation could result in delay of processing. Any questions regarding sticker eligibility or application status can be made by emailing bsticker@gloucester-ma.gov or calling 978-281-9708. All sticker purchases are final. No refunds will be issued.

Beach Parking Update for July 26-27
Beach parking this weekend in Gloucester will be open to the public at Stage Fort Park and residents plus a limited number of non residents at Good Harbor Beach and Wingaersheek. Parking rates and sticker policies remain in effect, though 2019 Gloucester beach stickers will be honored only through the end of July.
Parking restrictions for the upcoming weekends will be announced on the prior Wednesday. Updates will also be posted on Gloucester Beaches.

Visitors Center To Open This Week
Another encouraging sign is that the Gloucester Visitors Center at Stage Fort Park is set to reopen this week. This follows reconstruction of the porch/deck that was recently completed. Boy, it’s gorgeous! Wonderful job. Take a walk up there just to admire the view! Center open Thursday through Monday 9-3. Stop by and say hi to the volunteers. Safety protocols in place right alongside local information. Special shout out to Carol Mondello for her efforts to get the place ready and safe for use!!
