Eagles Checking In After Nor’Easter

It was wonderful to see an eagle pair return to Magnolia just after the recent storm passed. It felt as if they were checking up on how we were doing. The conditions weren’t ideal for photos or for flight but they put on quite a show for us. I suspect this is the same eagle pair we have seen over the marsh in the recent past. Regardless, it brightened by day without power by quite a bit.

7 Steps to Hygge in Your Home

Joey Ciaramitaro's avatarCape Ann Home

For years, Danish culture has excelled at creating comfort at home through the long and dark winter months. In 2016 Denmark was rated as the happiest country in the world. When you consider how long their winters really are, this becomes an even more remarkable feat. How did they do it? With hygge. There is no direct translation of hygge in English, but itโ€™s been defined as a quality of coziness and comfort to help cultivate oneโ€™s well-being. ย  As we hunker down for winter with Covid, it might be time to take some lessons from the Danes.ย

Comfort Food at the Village Restaurant in Essex

It’s been perfect for comfort food these last few days which we found served to perfection at the Village Restaurant in Essex recently. The apple cider sangria was very refreshing and I loved the French Onion soup. Jim had the fish stew and broiled seafood combo. I had the chicken parm. It was perfect for the damp chilly fall evening. Thank you Village!

After the Storm — pat morss

The surf is still noisy, but the nor’easter has passed out to sea. Back to the daily walk (we were fortunate not to lose power or have damage).

Tree surgeons said the challenge is removing branches without causing another outage
Instant apple harvest on our road
Crackers for the quackers
Mother Ann has witnessed many a storm
An unfortunate casualty – injured wing
After a dark week, the sun begins to poke through
The setting sun under the clouds produces a warm glow
Waning daylight
Finally a visible sunset
