Big Brother???
I’ve asked this question before, but never on GMG. I have yet to get an answer.
Can anyone out there tell me what these things are??? They look like polaroid pictures. Speed checkers, car counters, solar gizmos, mere reflectors??? Big Brother seems to be watching for something, I guess.
I used to notice one random one on a rock…somewhere near Exit 15 heading North on 128 in Manchester. That damn thing wouldn’t budge. It stood there through rain, snow, wind…you name it. It kind of looked like an old iPod glued to a rock. I became a bit obsessed with checking to see if it was still standing day after day. It always was. Sooner or later, I started to notice them everywhere. Some are bright blue….some are black or grey. They are on street signs, on the medium strips, on guard rails….everywhere! For some reason, I only really notice them going to and from work in Beverly, but I did notice a bunch near Gillette Stadium in the fall while stuck in traffic leaving a Patriots game. With so many of them now, my love affair with the first lonely one on the rock has diminished. I keep forgetting to check if it is still there. I’m sure it is.
Ummm, and, for the record, before Joey goes all crazy-ass LMGTFY on me. I have tried “Googling” it several different ways and haven’t had any luck!

Dave Sag’s Blues Party . Mike O’Connell . George McCann . Benny Benson . The Rhumb Line. Thursday 8-11 March 27, 2014
Hold on to your hats!
Dave says,
Mikey, long known as a silver-tongued crooner and water-slide glitarist, wrecked the joint last time around. We’re aiming for a repeat performance as he drags in his long time buddy George McCann, on Qatar, kicking and screaming. Seems these two cats had a hot band once, but now are satisfied feeding me kielbasa and listening to my bad jokes. Even Benny Benson, our Irish Ace of Pace and agitator par excellance is motivated to skim the froth and get down to the nitty gritty. So, come early and stay late. Bring a date and dine by the whites of her eyes!

Tonight from 7-9pm at Minglewoodtavern Atlat in Gloucester John is pleased to have his long-time, high harmonizing friend Robert Brown joining him. He hope’s you’ll consider giving them a listen; they’ve got a good thing going. He’s the Paul to his John, the Phil to his Don, the Peaches to his Herb.
He says, let’s shake a collective fist at this last blast of wintry weather, and get all cozy at Minglewood. The food is wonderful, the beer list expansive.

He’s a study in fingerpick blues and American folk. She’s a
songbird with the voice of an angel. He’s simplistic and
unassuming. She’s bravado and confidence. He’s a little bit
Ralph. She’s a little bit Alice. Together, they come to us as
Chick Marston & Ellen Ford… two of the many valued
treasures we quietly keep stashed away here on the salty
shores of Cape Ann. Such a special place we live in! ~ Fly

Dave Sag’s Blues Party tonight with Brian Templeton, Billy Loosigian & Dave Mattacks on drum 8-11at The Rhumb Line
Dave says,
The Happy Ending Social Club is proud to present Mr. Brian Templeton to our stage this week. Last time he was here, the joint had to be repainted. Mr. B., nasty harpist and vocallist that he is, will have you on the floor with his myriad vocal keenings and harmonica sorties.
Backing his play on Qatar will be Mr. Billy Loosigian, real estate mogul and cosmetic mutilation expert. Dive-bombing from behind will be our atomic clock, Mr. David Mattacks. And me, too. We hit at 8 P.M. Don’t be a cube, rube; go ape!

Hi Everyone!
While Alchemy is undergoing its transformation, I am thrilled to have been invited to play at Minglewood Tavern, another of Gloucester’s excellent restaurants owned by Serenitee Restaurant Group.
http://minglewoodtavern.com/
I SO look forward to seeing familiar faces and making new friends there. Like Alchemy, the menu and beverages are really wonderful, and I can’t wait to tuck into Cape Ann’s best sushi.
See you each Wednesday at 7pm! It’s a privilege to be part of Gloucester’s amazing live music scene.
Thank you as always for your support,
John

Local Artist Naomi Lee displays her work at Addison Gilbert Hospital Gallery from March 10th to 28th, 2014
Retired art teacher Naomi Lee has rediscovered her love for the arts over the past few years through painting. Naomi was an art teacher for over 20 years, specializing in pottery. She took an unconventional approach to teaching by really giving her students the freedom to create their own individual pieces.
Naomi resides in Gloucester, MA. She finds her inspiration in the beauty that nature creates and the local nautical surroundings. She believes in the calm of the moon, the warmth of the sun, the strength of the wind and the power of the sea. Her work mostly consists of seascape paintings.
Naomi is a member of The Beverly Guild of Artists, The Salem Art Association, The Magnolia Art Association, and takes part in The Marblehead Festival of Arts. She also offers greeting cards and some prints of her paintings for sale. Naomi can be contacted at 781-710-1080.

Ricky King Russell, Mario Perrett and Ed Sheer to join The Dave Sag’s Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line tonight 8-11
Dave says,
I’m psyched this week cuz my favorite gaggle of comedic cats are showing up for another roast. It’s been a long time so let’s welcome back Mr. Ricky “King” Russell. Ricky had a terrible accident a while ago at CERN when a stray Higgs boson collided with one of his guitar licks, splitting several atoms and his pants. His tailor has pronounced him fit to play.

Next, there’s “Mr.Ed” Scheer, equine vocalist and world’s foremost Diaperene® expert, on drums. Ed is always laughing at anything I say, even when it’s not funny. Go figure.
Then, girls, there’s “Super Mario” Perrett, former rockstar and Hai Karate© spokesmodel, on tenor sax. Gawd, he is so handsome! See for yourself.
And finally, there’s me, but you know that. But seriously, folks, I love these guys; they all play and sing so well, and laugh so loud. I nearly choked to death on my fifth drink last time. You will, too. Come early and stay late! We hit at 8 P.M.
