Shark at Lighthouse Beach

Shark at Lighthouse Beach

Shark at Lighthouse Beach2

I just came across these YouTube videos of a shark at Lighthouse beach last summer.  I had heard about it, but hadn’t seen it and didn’t realize it had been videoed.  I especially love what the people in the background are saying.  “We should get Good Morning Gloucester down here.  This is headline news.”   So, better late than never.  Here on Good Morning Gloucester – the shark at Lighthouse Beach.  I don’t know who took the video, but nice job!

Community Stuff 7/28/12

Dear Joe,

The Railways is underway with a DEP approved grading and paving job which is restricting access to the property.  If it is possible, would you notify the community that general traffic should turn at Horton Street to loop around……there is no parking and no good turn-around beyond that point.

Thank you for your help, if possible.

If Gloucester Massachusetts didn’t have the Greasy Pole.

If Gloucester Massachusetts didn’t have the Greasy Pole.

The English are weird group of people as shown by the horrible opening ceremonies last night. Or it just maybe me. I think I saw Joey C AT 1 MINUTE AND 40 SECONDS INTO THE VIDEO.

What Kind Of Pinko Commie Savage Goes Coyote Over Loveable House Pet?

In reference to the comments on Kim Smith’s Post-

The Warrior: Surviving Coyote Attack #2

Seriously?

I don’t know what bizarro world these bananaheads come from that are dancing on the graves of poor dead house pets that were mauled by Coyotes but at the risk of offending said bananaheads there really is no risk because who the fuck would want to hang out with these miserable commie bastards anyway?

These are the same people who don’t want to sentence mass murderers to the death penalty.  It’s un-American to root for the wild animal over the lovable house pet (and I put all house pets over wild animals 100 times out of 100)

Let’s get something straight right off the bat in the pecking order of life of who you root for-

It goes in no uncertain terms-

  • Humans
  • House pets
  • Bunny rabbits
  • Squirrels
  • Chipmunks
  • All other wild animals excluding rats
  • Lobsters
  • Fish
  • Insects excluding mosquitos
  • Rats
  • Mosquitos

This isn’t even up for debate.

You know what kind of coyote is a good coyote in your neighborhood where your pets live and your kids play?  A Dead Fucking Coyote.

and if you can’t figure out the logic in that you might as well go live out in Montana or some other wild refuge location surrounded by wildlife that wants to eat your intestines for lunch with a nice bottle of Chianti.

I don’t wanna live in a society where we start putting varmint ahead of people and pets.  That’s just crazy talk from people who hate people.

Give me humans over animals 100 times out of 100

Give me house pets over wildlife 100 times out of 100.

That’s What I’m saying.

Olympic update!

Ok ok. after watching a few interviews with these so called Olympic stars i have to agree with Joey. So Lame. these are’nt the same Olympians they were when we we’re growing up with. the one’s that had to find a way to support themselves to keep training to make the team. these “one’s” are spoiled brats. given money to compete. aka pro’s. changing the channel now and watching Pawn Stars! good luck to the usa brats!

How does Carlos do it all?

At 7pm Carlos Menezes (2nd from right on sax in the video below) leads Cape Ann Big Band at Shalin Liu (Call the box office 978-546-7391 to see if there are any tickets left).

Then at 9pm he’s at Cape Ann Brewery with The Runaround.  You’d think that he’d be exhausted after all that, but Carlos …?…  probably not.  He’ll have enough energy for a third gig starting at midnight, if you want to book him … 🙂

And he’s not the only performer doing two shows today.  Allen Estes will be in the courtyard at the Cape Ann Museum at 4pm and then at Heath’s Tea Room with Mike O’Connell at 7pm.

Because this is Gloucester, there are another dozen shows to choose from tonight.  See the full live music lineup here.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

I know Joey has no interest in the Olympic Games. I can understand with all the pros competeing now. It takes a lot out of it for me too but it’s great background noise if i’m drawing, painting or trying to come up with an idea for a GMG post.

What’s your favorite event?

My favorite event is the Bobsledding. It’s always an exciting event. Can’t wait to see it but I can’t seem to find it on the Olympic schedule. Anyone know what day it’s scheduled for?

Don’t Miss This Opening – Sure To Be Amazing

Charlie is really a genius with a camera and editing software.  Opening Reception, Friday, July 27 from 7-9:00 pm at Wendie Demuth Photography, 77 Rocky Neck Ave., Gallery 4.

Because of the construction and repaving of the lot at the Marine Railways, there is no overflow parking there for at least the next two weeks.  Don’t let that stop you from coming over to Rocky Neck.  Take the Gloucester Harbor Water Shuttle from Harbor Loop/Jacobs Landing every hour on the hour, or from St. Peter’s Landing every 15 minutes after the hour.  They’ll drop you right at Madfish Wharf.  No reservations necessary – purchase tickets on board $10 adults, $5 children 6-12, under 6 free.

Fly Amero & his friends transform a dark day into a night of healing through music

L-R: J.B. Amero, Wolf Ginandes (behind J.B), Fly Amero, Dave Brown last night @ the Rhumbline

“How can you be here tonight?” was the question asked of Fly Amero by friends and fans who knew he had lost his dear friend of over 3 decades and band-mate Larry Hoppen, one of the founders of Orleans, who had died less than 24 hours earlier.

“The show must go on,” replied Fly.  “It’s not just a slogan, you know.  Everyone in the entertainment business takes it very seriously.  If Lance [Larry Hoppen’s brother, another Orleans founding member] had a gig tonight, he’d be there too.”

Fly began by delivering the terrible news for those who didn’t already know, followed by 3 Orleans classics.  By the time the crowd sang, with Fly, the last chorus of Dance With Me, we had all been lifted through Fly’s personal grief to a higher place only music can take you.

Then Fly’s friends began to share the stage with him: Wolf Ginandes on bass, Allen Estes on harmonica.  The energy shifted a little, from memorial to entertainment.  Finally J.B. and Dave Brown joined Wolf & Fly to bring the house down!

Fly thanked the crowd for sharing this “living room” with him during a difficult time.

Something special — indeed magical — was at work last night.  Everyone felt it.

Thank you, Fly, for using music and your extraordinary rapport with your audience to heal all of us a little bit last night.  We hope you were healed a little too.
