Willow Still In Need-URGENT
Willow is still looking for her fur-ever home. If you think you may be a good fit for this beautiful girl, reach out and take her home!
Update from Mary Lou:
Thank you everyone who posted and cross posted. It resulted in one very good lead and that is all it takes. We were oh so close. Willow had met the interested party, they fell in love, Willow and his dog played non stop and we thought this is it. But it wasn’t to be for Willow and she now sits in the kennel waiting yet again. Everyone was heartbroken. The physical environment of the house was just not right for Willow. In addition to meeting the requirements of this special adopter, the physical environment has to be conducive to minimal stimulation. Willow requires a completely fenced in back yard in a quiet setting since the home will be where she is most happy and will spend the vast majority of her time. And so the search is still on. Here is her link again:

Ellis Paul at Old Sloop Coffeehouse this Friday, September 6, with Susan Cattaneo
Ellis Paul’s songwriting credentials are unassailable. They are as genuine as the 14 Boston Music Awards he has earned (a total second only to Aerosmith), as indelible as the tattoo of Woody Guthrie that adorns his arm, and as authentic as the musical roots he draws upon with every note he plays. Since emerging from the Boston music scene, Ellis Paul’s music has been consistently recognized and celebrated worldwide. His 16 releases and loyal, enthusiastic audiences reinforce this acclaim and have cemented his place as one of America’s most talented songwriters.
Ellis’ songs have been featured on the soundtracks to documentaries, TV shows and big Hollywood films such as The Farrelly Brother’s “Hall Pass”, “Me, Myself & Irene”, and “Shallow Hal”. Ellis is a true American troubadour, performing over 150 tour dates a year, for over 20 years all around the world. He has shared the stage with some of the top names in the music world including: Pete Seeger, John Mayer, Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, Dar Williams, Shawn Colvin, and multi platinum band Sugarland, among others.
He’s a great writer, and he’s someone who always connects with an audience. This is a guy who gets on stage and is never just phoning it in. That is what draws many people to him.
– Matt Smith, Club Passim
Susan Cattaneo has been a songwriting and voice professor at Berklee College of Music for 13 years. Her songs have been covered by numerous artists in Nashville, and her tunes helped launch the careers of Jillian Cardanelli and Erica Nicole. Susan has released three albums of mostly upbeat, catchy pop-country music: “Brave and Wild,” in 2009, “Heaven to Heartache” in 2011 and “Little Blue Sky” in 2012. You’ll hear a blend of country, rock and soul with sparkles of blues and folk – music that would slide into the comfort zone for fans of Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter or Sheryl Crow.
The performance will be in the handicap-accessible Fellowship Hall of the First Congregational Church of Rockport at 12 School Street. Advance tickets for this concert can be purchased for $16 from the coffeehouse web site at http://oldsloopcoffeehouse.org, at Gloucester Music, at Toad Hall Bookstore, during intermission at prior coffeehouses, and during coffee hour after worship the Sunday before the concert. The suggested donation at the door is $20 for adults, $12 for those 65 and older, $5 for those younger than 18, and $40 for families.

Hi Joey,
Beth Costanzo and Kids Unlimited are holding a Benefit for the Sawyer Free Library’s Childrens’ Room. I am hoping you will post this poster as often as possible.
This is a benefit, therefore Beth and myself will not be profiting from this event. We could really use your help promoting this event. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Library and 20% of Kids Unlimited’s gross sales during the event will also be donated. The poster is self explanitory, with other things being added each day. We hope to make this a WOW day for all the Kids. Thanks as always for your help.

Seaside Garden Club 2013-2014 Speakers Schedule
Kate Wilwerth from the Seaside Garden Club writes ~
Don’t miss the Seaside Garden Club’s opening program on September 10th at the Manchester Community Center. Social time begins at 7:00 and program begins promptly at 7:30. Light refreshments will be served.
Garden Design for Decades by Betty Sanders. Gardens should never be a burden to us. What we want in our 20’s and 30’s is not what the same as we want in later years. You’ll learn how to keep your gardens as your needs and abilities change. It’s a matter of plant selection and design, and can pay dividends for decades.
We are thrilled to have Betty Sanders back to present this program. Betty is a Massachusetts Master Gardener with a degree in organic chemistry and a well-respected garden speaker. Currently serving as vice-president of the Bay State’s 150-member Master Gardener Association, she said she gives lectures that “combine my knowledge of gardening and chemistry” Betty is nationally accredited flower show judge. She has studied gardening everywhere from Arnold Arboretum to the New York Botanical Garden and the New England Wildflower Society.Visit Betty’s website: http://www.bettyongardening.com/
We have a terrific line up of programs for this year! If you haven’t joined yet, membership is only $25 for the year. You can join at the September meeting. Guests are always welcome for $5. This year we have two terrific workshops! Note: Workshops have a supply fee and are limited to members only. Don’t miss Bert Ford’s Home Decor Demonstration – we will be raffling off his creations!
Debbie DiGiovanni, Sarah Dean and Gayle Masiero
The Seaside Garden Club is a group of fun, active, civic-minded and hands-on gardeners. We welcome all types of gardeners from beginners to experienced… there is always something to learn and share. We invite you to become a member of our club and enjoy our monthly programs which feature interesting guest speakers and creative workshops.

Phi Kappa Sigma Back Again For Lobster Rush Week
Its gotta be a dozen or more years running the men from Phi Kappa Sigma come down to Captain Joe’s for Rush week lobsters.
Tradition. Gotta love it!
If you’re a prospective pledge and you don’t go with PHI KAPPA SIGMA you really need to reevaluate your whole college existence.
Just drop out and become a garbage man already because you’re not college material.
Here they are back in 2008-
Rush Phi Kappa Sigma At MIT!
Posted on September 5, 2008 by Joey C
The boys from Phi Kappa Sigma at MIT come every year for rush week to pick up a ton of lobsters to serve prospective rushees.
I thought MIT was primarily an engineering school but apparently they have their marketing down pretty good too!

Songwriting legend Ellis Paul at Old Sloop on Friday
The folks at Old Sloop took the summer off, but are back in the concert business with a bang this Friday presenting one of the most celebrated Boston-based songwriters alive today, Ellis Paul with Berklee’s Susan Cattaneo opening.
You can often get Old Sloop tickets at the door, but that’s not likely for this one. So you might as well get them here (plus you’ll save $4). Check out the performer videos below!
