This week let’s welcome back the Kielbasa King of Woosta: Mr. Mike O’Connell. We’re gonna have some fun, Bwana,channelling the 3 Stooges and playing our arses off to please you, the viewer. Mike is bringing in the cavalry in the form of Mr.George McCann, Chuck’s brother, and the mainstay in James Montgomery’s band, to whoop it up on guitar. Mr. Forrest “Frosty” Padgett will be sweating profusely trying to get here on time to keep time, on the drums, that is. And I’ll be there, too!

After the last time we played here, the walls needed repainting and the bathroom fixtures had to be replaced. We recommend you bring your Insurance cards, and a white flag, just in case. Mikey’s the real deal!

Gordon Bok learned many tunes, sea songs, stories, legends and ballads growing up in Camden, Maine. Where he couldn’t find songs that matched his experiences or needs, he wrote his own, and he has kept up a lively flow of poems, songs, stories, choral and instrumental works. He has performed extensively in the United States, and in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand and has appeared on the radio show “A Prairie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor. Daisy Nell & Capt. Stan will open.

Last Minute Gig for Minglewoodtavern Atlat had a cancellation for today Saturday,,, I dont have my regular boys, BUT did manage to get George McCann, Dean Cassell and Dennis Monagle,, GETTING THOSE 3 on short notice,, it is an Honor !! we start at 9…. HolyShinto!!

I’ve seen this kind of lineup in the past and it was musically mind blowing. Definitely high concert material. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. You get to hear smokin hot originals, covers by the Allman Brothers, Neil Young, ZZ Top, Tom Petty, Grateful Dead, Blind Faith, Cream, JJ Cale, The Byrds, Clapton, The Band,  etc..

Plus it’s happening in our little town and it’s free!

We’re calling in a hazmat crew this week to clean up the mess that’s gonna be created out of the arrival of that famous Tootin’ Torquemada of the Tenor: Mr. Andrew Clark. This guy really knows how to do it. He sings, he chortles, he squeaks out the most amazing renditions of vintage R&B with his own battery of weapons of mass deconstruction. You’ll see. This coming on the heels of the most amazing night last week when the Three Stooges of the Blues poked my eyes out . What a night!

AC will be yanking in the amazing Mr. Mike DiBari to play gootar and perhaps sing a few, too. My personal favorite woodchopper, Mr. Forrest Padgett, will be flailing away on the skins. And I, Salmon DaveSag, will be helping out as much as I can. So, don’t be a cube, rube, go ape! Seeya there!

1968: Howard Marston, Jr. (a.k.a. “Chicklet”) seated with his parents in
resistance to the SSS and the U.S. involvement in Viet Nam.
When I first met Chick Marston, I was a young teenager.
My friends had told me I had to “see this guy play guitar”.
A gang of us rode in Jon Pope’s van to his house in Rockport.
Pope wanted to sell him a gorgeous metal-flake blue Fender
Stratocaster. Only thing was, Chick had never touched an
electric guitar in his entire life! I watched while he fumbled
all over the thing and wondered what all the hoopla was about.
But it wasn’t long after that I got to hear him play his nineteen
thirty-something Martin and simply sat in awe. And, soon after
that, he was making national news, courageously refusing
induction into the Army and its gross, immoral war – his beloved
and highly intelligent father and mother by his side all the way.
He was my hero. Our hero. I wonder how many local residents
know about this little chunk of American History. You want an

guest at the Rhumb Line this Wednesday night. We have a total
blast every single time we play together. I see no reason for that

Big Block Party Bash Celebrates End of Summer

Even after dark, the street is packed. Here is my neighbor Jalapenos Mexican Restaurant. Always busy and always tasty. All the restaurants serve late.

SATURDAY from 6-11, this year’s final Block Party features a stellar mix of entertainment, including The GHS Docksiders Big Band, a quintet of Boston jazz maestros and a variety of other talent on five outdoor stages PLUS The Brass Fed Horns (featuring Carlos Menezes, Jr., the hardest working musician on Cape Ann) roaming Main Street with Gloucester’s version of Little Italy at the West End (from THE CAVE to Washington).

We’re opening up the bomb bay this Thursday, to welcome back those spirited jokesters who may inflict moderate to severe Blooz damage to your soul. I’m talking about that fabulous glottal gurgler (and drummambulator) Mr. Edd Scheer. He’s draggin’ in his musical buddies, Mr. Ricky “King” Russell , on Qatar and vogelsang, and the modishly-styled cutie-pie of tenor sax,Mr. Mario Perrett. Everybody sings,sometimes together and in tune, and everybody gets a turn to embarrass himself and/or make bad jokes. Something to see. Czech it out.

And then, on Saturday, why not grab some extra chewing gum, lube up with Hai Karate® and join “Madhouse” for some fun and alcoholic madness at Captain Carlo’s.
