Thursday Night Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line ~ With Ricky “King” Russell and Ed Scheer

Listen up! This week is going to be very special. The last time Ricky Russell showed up, we all nearly had a heart attack! It was one of the best shows we’ve ever had. So tighten up your Kuyper Belt cuz we’re ready to blast off once again with Ricky at the helm. Not only that, but Edd “duodenum” Scheer is coming back too! These guys can melt the two-tone paint off your Edsel! We’ll be diving deep into the bowels of the blues to see what comes up. These guys are 100% natural with no added filler, gluten-free and wired for sound. Safe when taken as directed. Bring your cane and your dancing shoe!
And don’t forget the dinner special: nachos and choice of burritos for two at $18.Yum!

Wednesday, November 2nd
Guest Host:
JULIE DOUGHERTY!

Julie is a wonderful, engaging performer and a dear, dear friend.
I’m honored to have her as guest host for this week’s show.
Taken from her website, http://www.juliedougherty.net/:

“I’ve been singing since the mid-sixties, starting with my sister, Kathy,
performing folk music at coffeehouses in the Boston area, such as the
Unicorn Coffeehouse and the King’s Rook (we were lucky enough to
open up several times for the Kingston Trio in the 70’s) …through the
years since then, I’ve travelled much of the country singing Irish music,
original folk-rock music, country-rock music in the 80’s, and have made
several trips to Nashville, where I placed two original songs with two
major publishing firms and almost moved there in the early 90’s….but
my roots are in New England! I also hosted a songwriting cable TV
show called Songwriters In The Round for three years, on which we
featured many fine songwriters including Noel Paul Stookey, Chris
Smither, and Al Kooper, to name just a few.
“I spent a year and a half writing and performing in an original funk
band in the Boston area, the Boston Horns and also explored some jazz
and blues combinations. I really love all kinds of music and love singing
as many styles as I can. I’m very lucky to have had plenty of work over
the years and have recorded a couple of my own CD’s along the way…

Thursday Night Blues Party with Dave @ The Rhumb Line

Dave says,

This week we attempt to wash the pudding stains from the fabric of space-time by introducing a “new” act to our barnyard. I’m talking about the near debut of the “Earley Birds”. No, not our much beloved tenor sax mogul, but a new genetic mutation. There really is another musician named “Mark Earley” and he’s comin’ at you this Thursday and bringin’ his posse with him.
This M ark is a fine vogellizer, harpist, and leader of the band, if such a thing is possible. He’s dragging along our buddies, Mr. Larry Sortwell, singing catarrhist, and Mr. John Loud, drummambulist fartissimo®* for the ride. Both former members of that illustrious unit: Grapevine Road, from days of yore. Of, course, Greg T. and myself complete the circuit. Gonna be a hoot!
And, don’t forget: Thursday is two-for-one pricing on Fred’s  Mexican dinner. That’s nachos and choice of burritos for two at $ 18. Great food! great deal! Free prunes after 10p.m.

T Max ~ Thea Hopkins ~ Dog Bar ~This Saturday

Friends, fans, and someone who mistakenly signed my list thinking it was a
petition to outlaw politicians from running for office,

I’ll be playing at the Dog Bar (61 Main St, Gloucester) on Saturday night (Oct 22, 9:00) with Thea Hopkins (accompanied by
Andy Hollinger).

Come by early for dinner–it’s a great place to eat and relax. The show is
sponsored by gimmesound.com and The Noise—two of my favorite
music-related businesses.

Also, if you have a TV and live on Cape Ann–turn it on tonight (Monday) at 8:00 on channel 12, to
see an airing of the Rockport
Peace Festival.
