My View of Life on the Dock
During this year’s round of filming for Gloucester’s Feast of Saint Joseph Community Film Project, I had the wonderful good fortune to stop at Caffe Sicilia just as Maria Cracchiolo was about to decorate her signature Cassata Siciliana.
It was the morning of Saint Joseph Day and as you can imagine, Caffe Sicilia was bustling to fill the day’s special orders of delicious Sicilian pastries and altar breads. Nevertheless, I asked Maria if she would mind if I filmed her while she decorated the cake. No, not all, she graciously allowed. Maria is so deft at cake making that it took her only minutes to create this masterpiece. It’s all been captured for our film project! The Vine below gives a tiny glimpse of Maria’s artistry.
Cassata Siciliana is also traditionally served at Easter time. What a gorgeous gift Caffe Sicilia’s cassata would make to share at your family’s Easter celebration, which as you may know is coming up very soon, in less than two weeks, on Sunday, April 5th. Believe me when I write, Maria’s Cassata Siciliaina tastes as good as it looks–divine, actually! A partial list of the ingredients includes sponge cake, ricotta, liquor, marzipan, royal icing, and candied fruit.
Special orders may be placed by calling Caffe Sicilia at 978-283-7345.

Don’t get me wrong. Â I grew up at the awesome Ground Round in Danvers where you could watch little film strip movies, play games, and chuck peanut shells and popcorn all over the floor. It was fantastic.
Fast forward, however, to now….and to Halibut Point Restaurant.
I love it there.  I’m all for a quick meal and a beer sitting at the bar talking with Jack. I’m also not afraid to dive into the basket of peanuts that is inevitably placed directly in front of me.  I do, however, while snacking….place my shells in the extremely convenient glass bowl that is ALWAYS strategically placed in close proximity to the peanuts themselves.  What I don’t do is channel my inner 7 year old….and chuck the shells all over the floor.
So, that being the case, I was a little surprised to watch someone eating peanuts and throwing the shells with reckless abandon…this way and that…all over the floor last night (that may be a slight exaggeration).
So, I ask you… If and when you happen to dine at Halibut Point…do you use the bowl or do you chuck shells on the floor? Â Be honest.
Rick and I went to Sunday breakfast at Mile Marker. Since fellow contributor Nichole has mentioned the pool I decided to take a peek and it does look very inviting. For more information please go to http://www.CapeAnnMarina.com

So, if you’re on Facebook, you may already have learned this yesterday, but for those of you who aren’t…here’s the good news!
Burgers! But sliders! Plain, cheese (Hoffman cheddar), cheese and thin sliced caramelized onions and cheese, pickles, lettuce and tomato. All burgers served on a buttered grilled potato roll. Also we have have the option of a special proprietary Top Dog sauce for the Sliders.

There’s something pretty phenomenal about walking down Bearskin Neck and grabbing a hot dog and some chili cheese fries on a summer afternoon and sitting by the water’s edge.

Silly us. Â A friend and I thought that we could share one serving of the Franklin’s unbelievable Seafood Mac & Cheese!
And, while we probably could have, because it is a good size and super rich…it is simply too yummy to share. Â So, we ordered a second.
For the record, the Sangria wasn’t too bad either.

In case you didn’t know it’s Seaport Grille’s 6 year anniversary celebration! North Shore Acappella was performing last night and if you have not had the pleasure of hearing them one word: AMAZING! What an awesome experience for my son, 10, to hear an Acappella group for the first time! I wasn’t the only one dancing in my seat to the 50’s! When they started singing Rockin’ Robin and my son had never heard it I became sad.  How could I have deprived my son of Rockin’ Robin for the past 10 years?!
