MAY IS NATIONAL BETTER HEARING MONTH!
Beauport Hearing Care Collects Unused Hearing Aids for Charity
Raises Awareness of Better Hearing Month through ‘Orphan Hearing Aid’ Drive
Beauport Hearing Care of Magnolia is celebrating Better Hearing Month this
May by collecting “Orphan Hearing Aids” that are no longer needed and
donating them to the Starkey Hearing Foundation.
Judi Hodge Bergeron, board certified hearing specialist and owner at
Beauport Hearing Care, said, “We are excited to join with community
partners to collect ‘Orphan Hearing Aids’ all around Cape Ann. Donated
hearing aids will bring the precious gift of hearing to people that cannot
afford them.”
Beginning May 1st, look for the blue Orphan Hearing Aid collection boxes at
Aberdeen Home Care, Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, Rose Baker Senior
Center, Cape Ann Veterans Services, Cape Ann YMCA, St. John’s Episcopal
Church, SeniorCare, Salem Council on Aging, Manchester Council on Aging, Rockport Senior
Center, Senator Bruce Tarr’s Office, Second Glance, and more locations with addresses listed at
beauporthearing.com.
Hearing aid donations help people locally and around the world. Beauport Hearing Care
established a partnership with the Starkey Hearing Foundation a few years ago by providing free
hearing aids to impacted survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing. More recently Beauport
Hearing Care helped Gloucester’s Holy Family Mission obtain free hearing aids through a Starkey
Hearing Foundation partner in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Numerous studies have shown that our hearing is very important to our overall health, and
especially to brain wellness and function. David Bergeron, brain fitness specialist and owner at
Beauport Hearing Care, said, “Hearing loss symptoms are often mistaken as dementia, but research
suggests that ignoring hearing loss is associated with accelerated loss of brain cognitive functioning.
Everyone should schedule an annual hearing test.”

On Tuesday evening at the Beauport Hotel Art Show, went on the deck around sunset and took some photos. Since the weather has not been what I would call, sunny and warm, the clouds still give us a show.

An amazing Art Show on Tuesday night at the beautiful Beauport Hotel. The turnout was incredible and the Beauport Hotel and their staff were so kind and helpful. For a Tuesday evening the crowds were terrific. Thank you Beauport Hotel for putting on this art show. Also thank you for supporting artists and for your generosity to Pathways for children.

Great turnout

The month of April has been one of the wetness months. The weather has teased us a couple of times with sunny days, but even when it is cloudy, rainy and stormy the clouds have been beautiful.

Storm clouds on Saturday afternoon were beautiful but also very ominous.
Hope to see you all there.

Even though the weather was not great early in the morning, there were great numbers of wonderful volunteers cleaning up. I would like to thank Joe from the DPW who was downtown, he was wonderful and really helped us out. Thank you the volunteers and to One Ocean One Love for the great cookout.

From our beautiful Shore Road.

Out for a row on a sunny day.

On Washington Street near the rotary, Generous Gardeners planted these beautiful daffodils. They work so hard to help keep our city beautiful.

Love the clothes at The Gloucester Shop of Cape Ann, 48 Main Street, Gloucester, MA 01930, 978-282-3227. Here are a couple of photos of the clothes. I actually bought a couple of the outfits. The dresses are so cute and love the skirts, tee shirts, pants, and jewelry. Come on down and take a look.

Rockport “I Am More” Reception
The Rockport Police Department will be opening their doors to the public this Thursday evening (April 25th) from 7-9 pm for a reception featuring eight of the I Am More portraits by Gloucester artist Amy Kerr with accompanying essays on display in the Community Room at 168 Main Street in Rockport. The pastel and colored pencil portraits of mostly Cape Ann residents are displayed with essays by the subjects that describe all the ways they are more than their depression, alcoholism, bi-polar disorder, grief, suicidal thoughts, eating disorder, anxiety and panic attacks. There will be information available about free health and wellness resources available in Cape Ann, along with light refreshments.
A big thank you to Chief John Horvath and retired Rockport Police Officer Roger Lesch for making this event possible.
Meg Colby won gold, silver and bronze at last summer’s special Olympics and on April 23, 2019 she was the Fan Banner Captain at game 7 of the Bruins. Meg is such a great kid.
From Bruins! We are excited to have you in for Game 7 on Tuesday, April 23, as our Fan Banner Captain. The giant Bruins flag has been traditionally passed by fans before all Bruins playoff games since 2009. In past seasons, inspirational figures including Bruins legends, first responders, individuals affected by the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, and others have served as honorary captains to start the banner’s trip around TD Garden’s Loge section. This season the honor will go to various local heroes and champions who are deeply connected to the city and the greater New England community, including athletes from Special Olympics of Massachusetts.

There is always something to see when walking Harbor Loop.
