The O’Maley Innovation Middle School Guidance Counselors will host  “Social Media and the Impact on Student Success,” a Parent Night on Wednesday, January 30th at 6:30 in the O’Maley Library. All parents are invited and are encouraged to attend as this rapidly changing arena is affecting the social and emotional health of adolescents and impacting their academic experience. Some highlights of the presentation will include:

*Understanding the sites kids are on and how they’re using them

*Tips for parents to monitor yet respect privacy

*How to keep your child safe

*Understanding the social media laws

SeniorCare Inc. will hold its 45^th annual Valentine’s Day Breakfast Fundraiser Breakfast at The Gloucester House, located 63 Rogers Street in downtown Gloucester on Thursday, February 14, 2019, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  Tickets are $15 per person and include a buffet breakfast. Tickets are available in advance by calling 978-281-1750, online at www.seniorcareinc.org, or may be purchased at the door. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit SeniorCare’s Meals on Wheels program.

SeniorCare Inc.’s Meals on Wheels program brings a daily meal right to the door of homebound elders, Monday through Friday. Menus are designed by nutrition experts to meet the needs of older adults and are prepared by a professional caterer.  In addition, homebound elders have a daily interaction with the delivery team—sometimes their only human contact that day.  SeniorCare currently delivers Meals on Wheels to more than 550 elders each day.  Annually, this means 128,000 home-delivered meals…

SeniorCare Inc., will host The SAVVY Caregiver, a free six-week workshop at its offices located at 49 Blackburn Center in Gloucester, MA, from February 1, through March 8, 2019.

The Savvy Caregiver Program is a free six-session training for family and friends who are active caregivers, caring for those living with Alzheimer’s or related dementias.

Taking care of a person living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia is specialized work. To do this work successfully, caregivers need special skills, knowledge, and a positive attitude that helps them to care themselves.

Savvy Caregiver will help participants:
• Understand the impact of dementia on both you and the person you are caring for,
• Learn the skills you need to manage daily life,
• Take control and set goals,
• Communicate more effectively,
• Strengthen family resources,
• Feel better about your caregiving, and
• Take care of you.
