The Gloucester Rotary Club is pleased to announce an exciting Casino Night Fundraiser on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Cruiseport Gloucester, located at 6 Rowe Square on Gloucester’s harborfront.

This lively evening will bring the thrill of a casino floor to Gloucester, featuring classic favorites including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, and Texas Hold ’Em Poker. Cape Ann Animal Aid Pet Of The Week- London

Meet London! This sweet boy was originally picked up in Lynn, he was adopted out, but life often has challenges and he was returned to us – no fault of his own or the adopter. Shortly after he went home he had dropped weight fast, worried – the adopter had returned him in fear for his health. Later we learned he was diabetic and now with the proper food and insulin dosage he is all set and ready to find his forever home! London is also FIV+, meaning his immune system is weakened, but with regular vet visits and an indoor lifestyle he will have many good years by your side. London is a very loving and friendly cat, not shying away from strangers – often greeting them by calling out and rubbing against their legs. He loves to follow you wherever you go, going room from room like a little shadow! Adopt today!

London has joined our extended stay club, meaning his fee has been reduced in hopes to help find his forever home!

CAPE ANN COLLECTORS summer show, Above the Horizon Line: Alizarin Crimson Greets Ultramarine Blue, opening May 30 – 31, 1-5 p.m., tells the story of light, atmosphere, and color changes above the horizon line where light becomes hypnotic, glowing and spiritualized (running Saturdays through June 20 – all 53 works on view).

Emile Gruppe (1896-1978), Cape Ann master known for cultivating an impressionistic approach through direct and reflected light, states that “objects are affected by two sources of light…the sun and the sky.” Two transparent pigments capture this alchemist drama when glazed, washed or merged:

Alizarin Crimson, a cool, transparent reddish blue derived from the madder plant used for dye since 3000 BC, producing delicate, light pinks when diluted

Ultramarine Blue, a warm, transparent blue pigment named from Italian “ultra marino” (meaning beyond the sea), producing rich, moody violets when blended

CAPE ANN COLLECTORS main gallery celebrates color and the excitement of compositions showcasing expansive skies conveying feeling rather than view, narrative rather than object, poetry rather than text – above the horizon line!
