What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, also known as Ayurvedic Medicine, is the traditional medicine of India, which originated there over 5,000 years ago. Ayurveda emphasizes re-establishing balance in the body through diet, lifestyle, exercise, and body cleansing, and on the health of the mind, body, and spirit.

In North America, Ayurveda is considered a form of alternative medicine. Like traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda is a whole medical system, meaning that it is based on theories of health and illness and on methods of preventing and treating health conditions.

Because of its growing popularity, Ayurvedic treatments, particularly at spas and salons, are increasingly being performed by people who have not received formal training in Ayurveda. That’s why if you are interested in consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner, it is important to seek a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner and learn about their training.

Exciting News! Sawyer Free Library to Begin Curbside Pick up and Home Delivery Service on June 8th

Sawyer Free Library's avatarCape Ann Community

The Gloucester Lyceum and Sawyer Free Public Library is pleased to announce its phased reopening plan will begin on Monday, June 8. The plan, approved by the Library director and board, lays out phases that move the library toward a return to a “new normal” for its operations.

Sawyer Free Library, which strives to provide a welcoming, enriching, and above all, safe environment for their patrons was closed in early March to the public as a precaution against COVID-19. Now, as conditions allow them to reopen, it is their goal to provide library services in the least restrictive manner possible while preserving library patrons and staff’s health and safety.

“While we have and will continue to provide a lot of great services and programming online and through digital delivery, everyone at the Sawyer Free Library is anxious to get back to the business of serving our community in person,”…

Brittany Barry, of Brit Barry Design #letteringforloveproject

Hi Joey,
I want to introduce myself, my name is Brittany Barry, of Brit Barry Design, and I’m a local of Gloucester (I actually think my grandmother Jane Noble is friends with your mom).
I was sent the post from Good Morning Gloucester showing pictures of the #letteringforloveproject I’m taking part in and the windows I’ve done at the Franklin, Sample This, the Avenue Beauty Bar, Salon Unique, Avanti Salon, EnVogue Salon and Captain Hooks.  (passports I did not do)
The Lettering for Love Project was brought to my attention by another creative who started it in Reading. I asked if I could bring it to Gloucester and she was thrilled to have the movement grow as I was even more elated to be able to brighten and cheer up the windows of local businesses.  This is all about being able to spread love and positive messages during all of the uncertain and challenging times we have been living through, with all of the recent protesting its even more important to continue to send love and unity and let people of color know that I (we) stand with and support them.  If there are any businesses that would like to include a positive, unified or uplifting message on their storefront please reach out to brit@britbarrydesign.com. The handwriting is done for free, but donations are welcome and are given to the Open Door and Equal Justice Initiative.
I have about 15-20 more to go around Gloucester (many on Main Street) and Magnolia, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing many more pictures
I just wanted to let you know the story and message behind the windows and why they started popping up ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Thank you so much for you time,
Brittany Barry

Sincerely,
Brittany Barry
