Hey Joey,
I don’t know if you might be interested in telling GMG fans about our children’s book Giuseppe McGuire from Old Boston Town. I have enclosed the press release and a link to the book trailer. Thanks to the panel discussion at the library in Gloucester last month, we decided to go ahead and self publish through amazon. In Book 2, Giuseppe ends up in Gloucester with his friend the Charles River Monster. Look for it in the Spring!
I appreciate your time. Thank you for making GMG such a great source of information for locals and wanna be locals, such as myself.
Many blessings,
Heather Smidt
With The Stupid Amount Of Rubber Ducks Arriving Daily, City Councilor Melissa Cox Came Up With Yet Another One Of Her Brilliant Ideas-
A GMG Rubber Duck Race At The Good Harbor Beach Creek.
We Will Need Duck Collectors In Wet Suits To Insure No Wayward Ducks Make Their Way To The Ocean On The Outgoing Tide.
![]()
So here’s what I’m thinking
When we announce it this spring we go down to the Good Harbor Footbridge, sell ducks for $5 a pop, number them and put folks names corresponding to that number on the sheet and get some swag gifts from area businesses and do 25% of the money collected to the winner of the duck race and 75% going to a local charity. From the footbridge to a lobster pot line stretched across the entrance to the creek. we could also have a huge picnic party on the bank of the creek at Good harbor Leading up to it!
Sound Good?

You can see it! Last Saturday, I noticed the structure off the Northeast while I was out in the bay East of Boston Harbor. The new wind turbine in Gloucester is very clearly visible to boaters from outside Boston Harbor, and as it turns out, is even visible from as far away as the South Shore: Specifically, Turkey Hill in Hingham and the cliffs over Jerusalem Road in Cohasset. As such, this adds a great location point for boaters to help them determine there position and direction while far out on the wide open sea. The Gloucester turbine will be a good visible marker along with the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, The Salem Power Station, the Lawson Tower and Driftway Wind Turbine in Scituate, and Thacher Island in Rockport.
Hello Joey,
My father-n-law and I really enjoy your site. Could you give us more information about the dory paint shown in the picture on your site?
What is the actual brand name and manufacturer? How can we get this paint?
Thank You,

Hi Joey,
I stopped on the Boulevard Friday 12/21/12 around 3 p.m. to admire the cloud
formations over the harbor. The wind suddenly picked up and the surf
suddenly started to crash over the sea wall.

Craig Kimberley and Hanna Christmas Tree-
Dear Joey and GMG:About 30 years ago we lived in a tiny house that had no room for a Christmas tree. We were given an old wrought iron gate which fit perfectly in a picture window. Since then that’s always been our Christmas tree. Holds beaucoup ornaments, fits against a wall, and never drops needles on the floor!Merry Christmas to all!

Hey Joey,

Every year Tony makes Frank and I a loaf of his much sought after Swedish coffee bread. I’m afraid to open it because once you eat the first bite i can’t stop til that whole sucker is gone. (I’m not sure if he puts heroin in it, the stuff is so damn addicting).

Tony Gross 2009 Swedish Coffee Bread
Posted on December 21, 2009 by Joey C
Every Christmastime Tony Gross, the skipper of the lobsterboat F/V Sandollar makes a ridiculous number of Swedish Coffee Bread loaves and gives them out to friends. I made the mistake and called it Nisu but because the recipe comes from an elder in Tony’s family he insists it be called Swedish Coffee Bread.
It’s delicious and best eaten within a day of cooking. I sure am glad I’m on the list of those who get one every year!

Wally and Carol Gray of Deer Isle, Maine write-
I wanted to take a moment to thank each and everyone who attended the vigil for the lost fisherman, and of course the special attention paid to the two recent fishermen lost at sea from Deer Isle. Wallace “Chubby” Gray II, our baby boy, and Wayne Young, a devoted family man and husband. Again, thank you very much everyone for your support and loving words. God Bless.
