Question: How many of you have the stitcher app in your car?

The GloucesterCast Podcast is coming to Stitcher for those of you who have it in your car, you’ll be able to listen to it through your car radio.

I listen to the podcast through the auxillary port and a 3.5 mm jack from my headphone jack on my cell phone because I don’t have a radio system in my car with stitcher. You can get a 3.5 mm connector for something like $6 at radio shack. Good for long rides in the car. Yo can also use it to listen to Pandora and any other audio through your cell phone.

Gloucester Area Astronomy Club April 11 Meeting

Eclipses are coming!

At our Friday April 11 meeting, GAAC favorite Jim Koerth will show us everything we ever wanted to know about eclipses in general, the moon in particular, and even more in particular, the two lunar eclipses we’re expecting this year — one in April and another in October. And there are another two eclipses coming up in 2015, so come to GAAC and be prepared!

Jim’s talk will focus on the mechanics of eclipses, lunar and solar, here and on other planets, and will touch on lunar geography and even the role of eclipses in the search for planets around other stars. Come on in for the usual good times and good eats, and a great, informative talk. You’ll leave looking at the moon differently!

The Gloucester Area Astronomy Club meets from 8:00 pm to about 9:30 on April 11 at the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan Street in Lanesville. There are no costs or fees, and the public is encouraged to attend. See more on our Facebook page,http://www.facebook.com, our website athttp://gaac.us, or follow us on twitter, @gaactweet

Dory prep rain delay!

For those of you who read the schedule of events sent to you recently by the IDRC, you noticed we have scheduled a dory prep day at Eastern Ave. Self Storage this Saturday April 5th.  But, due to the forecasted rain, we will be moving to Sunday April 6th, meeting around 9 AM.  We will need some bodies at least to move the boats around (un-nest a pair).  Then, we will be scraping and sanding.  The whole process should take less than 2 hours, so if you have some time please come down and lend a hand for a good cause!!

Fiesta Video from 2010-2011

Hi, I’m a big fan of your blog and I thought you might be interested in possibly sharing this short 8mm film that my husband made about St. Peter’s Fiesta with your readers.
I’m a native of the North Shore (my family is from Gloucester) but my husband, Matthew, is from New Hampshire. I brought him to the fiesta and to Gloucester for the first time around 2007 and he instantly fell in love with both. We go to the fiesta every year now and visit Gloucester as often as possible.
He shot the footage for this video at the 2010 and 2011 St. Peter’s Fiesta. He also composed and performed the music (he played guitar and his friend played the violin part). Here’s a link to the video on youtube:

Hope you like it! Thanks for your time!

Thank you, Joey!
Here’s our mission statement:

Appropriately named 525, the restaurant’s neighbors may be the only ones to get the connection reference, but everyone is going to love the food! 525 will feature creative tavern fare with New England staples, served in a comfortable setting. The bar will boast great cocktails, wines by the glass and ice cold beers. With plenty of outdoor seating available, 525 will be the perfect après beach destination this summer.
