The creator of goodmorninggloucester.org Lover of all things Gloucester and Cape Ann. GMG where we bring you the very best our town has to offer because we love to share all the great news and believe that by promoting others in our community everyone wins.
These are strictly prices on the store generic brands. So not Cheerios but the Market Basket, Stop and Shop and Shaw’s versions of Cheerios.
Thanks to My Beautiful Wife Kate, Whitney Shrock and Jimmy Dalpiaz for item selections.
Thanks To Pat and Jimmy for accompanying me and compiling the prices!
I still maintain that if you are a sale shopper that Stop and Shop has superior sales, a nicer layout and it just feels like home for me being the store I’ve grown up with and visit probably 5 times a week.

If you’ve been considering selling your home, now may be the perfect time. Why? Because inventory is low and demand is high.
Buyers are actively searching, but with fewer homes on the market, well-priced, well-presented properties are moving quickly and often receiving multiple offers. This competitive market gives sellers a unique opportunity to maximize their home’s value.
Whether you’re ready to list or just curious about what your home might be worth in today’s market, I’d love to help. Request your free home evaluation today and find out how your property stacks up in this fast-moving market.

Seaside Sustainability’s Shrink Wrap Recycling Program offers a free, eco-friendly solution for Cape Ann boaters to dispose of their shrink wrap responsibly.
Running for the month of May, convenient recycling container at the DPW in Gloucester.
Boat owners are invited to drop off their shrink wrap during business hours free lumber and other debris for absolutely free.
By diverting this plastic from landfills, the program helps reduce pollution and protects local marine environments, supporting Seaside’s broader mission to preserve oceans, wetlands, and estuaries.
The program is open to all boat owners, no marina membership required. This initiative helps minimize waste and supports sustainability efforts by ensuring safe, practical recycling of shrink wrap, keeping our coastal ecosystems clean and healthy.
Thank you to our sponsors, including Linda Rowe and everyone from the Goodies Fund, for making this program possible! Learn More

Not enough can be said as to how grateful we are to the local restaurants who came to compete. I recognize their efforts, not only supplying the ingredients but their time and energy. It’s events like this that make the Gloucester community so unique and special.
Castle Manor Inn, The Causeway, Chez Moi Chez Vous, The Lobster of Gloucester, Oak To Ember, Saltwater Grille, Machaca, Minglewood Harborside, Richie Baressi, Seaport Grille all rose up and came with great energy and fantastic fish chowder! If you care about community, please consider patronizing these restaurants!!!!
Congratulations to Chef Dan Lavalla from Castle Manor Inn for the win. For the record Chef Dan has won back to back, first in the Essex Clam Chowder competition and now the St Peter’s Club Fish Chowder competition! The votes were so tight that 1 vote separated first second and third with everyone else just votes away from 4, 5, 6 and 7th place.
In second place by 1 vote was local legends Peter Zappa at The Causeway followed by Meatball Challenge Grand Champion Richie Baressi representing The Crow’s Nest!
Huge thanks to Pat and Jimmy Dalpiaz who were behind the scenes every step of the way. Thanks To Anthony Saputo and Marco Numerosi, Billy Shields and his wife Nancy who did a great job keeping the competition running smoothly! Last but not least the bartenders at the club that kept the drinks flowing with a smile.
FYI the club is open to new memberships. You do not have to be Italian, you do not have to be from Gloucester. It’s a great newly renovated club that offers members an inexpensive place to hold parties and gather to make memories!
