I have an opportunity for an ā€˜evidence-based’ research grant.Ā I am looking for a Cape Ann healthcare facility or school to collaborate with on a pilot study.Ā Please contact me if you have an interest inĀ research.

What exactly does ā€˜evidence-based’ mean? Ā

According to the American Holistic Nurses Association, ā€œevidence based practice (EBP) is the conscientious use of the best available evidence combine with the clinician’s expertise and judgment and the patient’s preferences and values to arrive at the best decision that leads to high-quality outcomes.ā€ Ā (Dossey, B.; Keegan, L. Ribbon Cutting for The Art of David Arsenault

CAPE ANN CHAMBER RIBBON CUTTING FOR THE ART OF DAVID ARSENAULT

ROCKPORT, Massachusetts – On Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the grand opening for The Art of David Arsenault.  The ceremony took place at the new gallery location at 26 Bearskin Neck in Rockport, MA.

Gallery owners David Arsenault and Sue Koehler-Arsenault introduced the gallery to a crowd of spectators and celebrated by cutting the ribbon before welcoming the public into their beautiful gallery. Refreshments were served and live music serenaded the many guests who visited and viewed the artwork in the two-story gallery space.

Arsenault’s work is best known for large shapes, dramatic lighting, and strong color, which creates a compelling sense of mood, time, and place. Each piece presents a quiet exploration of everyday life.

The Art of David Arsenault will be open seven days a week on Bearskin Neck for the 2015 season.

sam's avatarcapeanneats

One of the best lunch deals in Gloucester may come at a surprise to some…

Minglewood Tavern now has a weekday ā€œChalkboard Specialsā€ menu that consists of four classic sandwiches that are just $6 each. Ā Plus, you can even make it a meal with fries and a soda forĀ onlyĀ $2 extra.

Last we checked, that’s even more affordable than your average meal at the drive-thru — and the food isn’t even on the same playing field!

Minglewood Tavern opens at noon daily, and is located at 25 Rogers Street.

Besides being a drum teacher, Mamadou is a renown rhythm guitar player and singer whose award winning band has performed frequently around New England including many locations in Gloucester. In 2012 Boston Music Awards honored Mamadou as International Musician of the Year.

Messy Art Day For Kids At The Lanesville Community Center Saturday

Hello, Joey! Some friends and I are former and current preschool teachers and enthusiastic artists in Lanesville–and we are having a messy art day for kids this Saturday, at the LCC from 10-12.
I am the last minute announcer for this fun thing, but my daughter was also happy to help!  Many thanks for the post in GMG!

Cape Ann Contra Dance This Friday

Hi Joey,

After a loooong winter we’re ready to celebrate spring with a contra dance at the Magnolia Library Center, 7:30 PM, this Friday, April 17.

Contra dancing is fun, it’s social, it’s mildly aerobic, and it features exceptionally fine live music.

Attendees don’t need to have previous experience – everything is taught. And it’s not necessary to come with a partner, either.

We love to see new folks discover the joy of dancing for the very first time and we hope to have both new friends and old join us this Friday.

The Cape Ann Contra Dances are organized and produced by Folk Life Studio, and they are supported in part by a grant from the Gloucester Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

There is a requested donation of $10 per dancer, dancers younger than 16 are free.

For more information, contact capeanncontradance@gmail.com, or find us at

https://www.facebook.com/CapeAnnContraDance or at
www.meetup.com/Cape-Ann-Contra-Dance.

Thanks for keeping our community well informed.

GLOUCESTER’S MAYOR PLEDGES MONEY TO EXTEND PROGRAM TO 5 DAYS

GLOUCESTER, MA

“The Grace Center has become a very important part of what our community needs. People who are in trouble now rely on this program for basic support and safe space during the day. For years I have worked with people with these disabilities, and I know many of them personally. As mayor I am committing $15,000 from the city’s 2015 Community Development Block Grant budget.  This is a challenge grant to encourage the Grace Center to expand to five days of operations. Gloucester critically needs this, and I am confident that the many partner agencies, churches, and leaders involved will work with me to make this possible.” – MAYOR SEFATIA ROMEO THEKEN

The Grace Center Inc. operates as a day resource center for those adults on Cape Ann who are homeless,  low-income and in crisis or transition. To date, the organization has served over 600 individuals, offering breakfast and a hot lunch, along with social services. Learn more at www.gracecenterinc.org

Grilling Season Baby!

Grilling Tips?  Grilling Gadgets you wanna talk about? Leave them here.

I consider myself pretty good on the grill but I had one misfire yesterday.  I used wooden spikes like they use for chicken satay and they burned right up.  Gotta get some metal skewers I guess.
