Come for the Pancakes, Stay for the Waterfront Festival!

RotaryPancakeBreakfastThe Rotary Club of Gloucester MA will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Stage Fort Park, located on Hough Avenue in Gloucester, MA. This popular event takes place concurrently with the Gloucester Waterfront Festival, which is sponsored by the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and is held in Stage Fort Park on Saturday-Sunday, August 19-20, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days. A special FREE parking area is available for Pancake Breakfast attendees.

Tickets for the Pancake Breakfast are $8 per person and are available from any Gloucester Rotarian or at the following Gloucester locations:

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC loves cardamom, ginger and fennel tea which also helps improve digestion and circulation.
2 pinches of cardamom
2 pinches of fennel seeds
1/4 inch fresh ginger


Mash ginger in a mortar and pestle. Grind cardamom and fennel using a mortar and pestle. Place in cup. Pour boiling water over ingredients and steep, covered, for three minutes. Strain and serve.

Sidewalk Bazaar 1986

Joe–Since it’s Sidewalk Bazaar weekend, I thought your readers might be interested in these pictures of the same weekend event from 1986.  One of them depicts the waitstaff races, which I recall was very amusing.  They aren’t the best pictures (I like to think my photography skills have improved since then) but I think the buildings in the background are very interesting.  Perhaps others will agree.  Missing you all!  Pat and Jim D

#Chocolate Covered Bacon On The @PKGrills #PK360

First we set up the PK 360 for indirect heat to cook the bacon using cherry wood for smoke.  Line the grill with tin foil for easy clean up.

Once the bacon is done place it on a plate with paper towels to take away excess bacon grease.  Melt semi-sweet chocolate by placing a glass bowl over a steaming pot of water and on medium-low heat.

Once chocolate is melted place a sheet of wax paper on a cookie sheet.  Using three different toppings- Himalayan Salt, Maple Pepper and Sweet Maple Seasoning.

The bacon will be delicate so the best way to apply it is to lay it against the side of the bowl, get a god glob of chocolate on the spoon and then let it drop down onto the side of the bacon strip.  Turn and do the same on the other side.

Old Guys Catching Tuna

Not a bad day for Capt. Mike Parisi aboard F/V Amanda Marie catching a 90  ” Bluefin tuna with his crew of seniors in their 70 s. The old guys reeled it in landing their catch in about 2 hours.Thanks to Lex and Dewey , great crew got the job done.
