Lost & Found

Another beautiful evening on Cape Ann! I enjoyed a nice walk on Wingaersheek. I love coming home to this…

A thoughtful person found a pair of little shoes left behind and put them in the “lost & found” at entrance 1. Come claim them if they’re yours!

Coconut went for a dip in the tide pool. If it was a little warmer, I would’ve joined her. Summer is just around the corner, I can feel it.

Recipe: Pink Lemonade Jello Shots

I had a blast at the GMG/Bodin Photo Spring Fling. Happy to get to meet everyone and hang with the GMG crew.  If you were there hopefully you got to have one of the pink lemonade jello shots I made before they were all consumed.

Here’s the very simple step by step recipe:

(Makes about 40 jello shot slices)
What you’ll need:
10 lemons
1 package of  jello ( I used strawberry/banana)
1 cup of vodka

Directions:
1. Wash Lemons, cut in half, and scoop out fruit (I put the lemon guts in the freezer for future use)
2. Place lemon haves upright in a cake pan or similar pan (make sure it fits in the fridge)
3. Follow the directions on the Jello box and make the Jello, but instead of 1 cup cold water, replace with 1 cup vodka
4. Once jello is mixed pour into the lemon “cups”, try to fill to brim
5.  Put in fridge to set (usually 4 hrs)
6. When Jello is firm take out and use a sharp knife to slice the halfs in half, so you have nice 1/4 slices.

And Voila!

Some Notes: The Jello will take on the flavor of the lemon rind & vodka.  Depending on the size of the lemons you may need another Jello box to fill all 10 lemons. You can also use limes or oranges- try red jello & limes and add black sesame seeds to look like little watermelon slices.

I think for our next GMG shindig I’ll make Orange Jello shots with Vanilla vodka- A la Creamsicles!

Enjoy!

Night Life Apparel-Outta Gloucester

If you’ve been to the North Shore Mall recently you may have noticed the Night Life Apparel kiosk with all the fun sound activated light up t-shirts. I interviewed owner, Mike Lorenzana from Gloucester,to learn more about Night Life Apparel and their shirts:

If you can’t see the video above click this link: Night Life Apparel Boston-Mike Lorenzana

They have lots of t-shirts designs and sizes for kids and adults. Prices are very reasonable and range from $25-$35. It’s also great that they can do custom orders. I can definitely see a Good Morning Gloucester shirt selling like hot cakes.  Here’s a look at some of their designs:

These are the perfect party shirts. I suggest you run to the mall to pick one up for the GMG Spring Fling on Saturday night!

Rockport National Bank-Goes to the Dogs

Update from Gloucester Dog Park:

Rockport National Bank is going to the dogs in the most figurative manner.  They lead the pack as the first large corporate donor toGloucesterDogPark,Cape Ann’s first dog park.  John Dugger, building committee member of the Friends of Gloucester Dog Park and the architect behind the main pavilion ofGloucester’sDogPark, has said the concrete slab will be poured as soon as weather permits for the foundation of the entryway pergola.  Construction for this phase will be under the management of Nikki Bach from Insider’s Edge and a building committee member as well, who also managed phase 1 of the construction. Structural engineer and committee member, Kelly Brancaleone has completed the foundation plan.

The Friends of Gloucester Dog Park are very grateful to Rockport National Bank’s officers, Grace Giambanco, Peter Anderson and Mike Luster for committing to a volunteer community project that will give our city a much needed amenity. They realize the importance of public/private partnerships at a time when the City is stretched to complete infrastructure upgrades like sewer, water and schools.

The Committee hopes that the bank’s lead will encourage other large corporate benefactors to help complete the project.  For giving opportunities, please contact Roger Broome at 978-768-3400. Visit www.gloucesterdogpark.org for news and updates. Cape Ann’s 1st Dog Park!

Happy Birthday Mike!

Happy Birthday  to my boyfriend, Mike!  I picked up a wonderful strawberry shortcake cake  to celebrate from Jim’s Bake Shop.  Delicious! Very fresh and tastes just like strawberry shortcake.

We also had a wonderful dinner at Azorean with tapas and sangria. Unfortunately for you, the food was all gone by the time I thought of taking out my camera.  We sat at the bar and Jacquie served us. Such friendly service and a great atmosphere! A perfect way to celebrate Mike’s birthday.

Rockport Represents in Vieques, Puerto Rico

I just got back from an amazing vacation in Vieques, Puerto Rico.  The beaches are beautiful and at times you can have a whole beach to yourself.  We stayed at a wonderful house in the Pilon hills of Vieques at Mockingbird Hill. The views from the deck were amazing and the breeze throughout the house was wonderful.

Mockingbird Hill Vieques

We did a lot of fun things, like diving, snorkeling and got to kayak the bio luminescent bay, which was so unique. We kayaked the bay at night and was able to see all the bio luminescent dinoflagellattes light up like liquid sparkles. When the water is disturbed they light up. You could even see the light trails from fish that swam by. Unfortunately I couldn’t capture the experience in photos or video, you really need a special light sensitivity camera.

Another highlight of our trip was sitting down to breakfast at a restaurant called Belly Button’s on the Malecon in Esperanza. Above our heads in the rafters was a photo of Rockport! Unfortunately the waitresses didn’t know the origin and thought it was a place in Maine. What a small world!

Generous Donations for Gloucester Dog Park

A Dog Park Update from Mary Lou Maraganis:

“Gloucester Dog Park is one paw closer to becoming a reality thanks to the generous donations of $12,500 by Christopher and Anne Lewis for The Cat Doctor of Gloucester and an anonymous donation of $10,000 by a Rockport resident.

We still have a way to go but these donations along with the Dusky Foundation’s matching gift was certainly a wonderful way to end 2011.  Remember the allocation of the land for the dog park was only approved by city council in March.  We’ve come a long way in 9 months.  This is due in part to a great crew of volunteers comprising the Friends of Gloucester Dog Park.  We are actively recruiting additional volunteers to help with PR, community development, events planning, web design, arts committee members, volunteer coordinator -simply anyone that wants to be an active part in making this dog park a valuable part of this community.”

To find out more information on donating and/or volunteering, please visit www.gloucesterdogpark.org or call 978-283-5723.

Beautiful Winter Morning

The light dusting and the light this morning was beautiful! Coconut had fun playing in the first snow of the season in Oak Grove Cemetery. So peaceful!
