Rainbow over Good Harbor

good harbor beach rainbow after sandy

A rainbow appeared for a brief moment over Good Harbor Beach this afternoon. The surf is still crashing, but it looks like GHB held up pretty well to the storm.

Lots of people were out walking their dogs and enjoying some outside time after being cooped up because of Sandy.

The Whale before the Storm

I just had to check out the whale before and if it washes back out to sea. Such a magnificent creature!

At this point, it doesn’t smell or look too good, but it’s a pretty cool life experience.

Thanks to a few Gloucester Gentlemen…

We live in a wonderful community with wonderful people but, you probably already know this! I would like to say Thanks to a few Gloucester Gentlemen

I had some car problems last night and had my car towed home by New Beverly Auto Clinic . The tow driver was a real gentleman and made a bad situation not so bad.

This morning, I used Lighthouse Taxi  to get to Enterprise to pick up a rental. Lighthouse Taxi was very fast at picking me up and my cab driver was very friendly. I could tell he loved his job and helping others.  He told me about helping the elderly community get to Dr. Appointments and such and its nice to know they’re in good hands.

When I was dropped off at Enterprise this morning, I received another friendly welcome by the two gentlemen working there. They helped me by working with my dealership and another Enterprise and made sure I got the best rate for a rental.

It’s really nice to know we live in a community with great people that are willing to help others.  I’m very frustrated with my car situation, as I just picked it up from the shop on Wednesday after spending $1500 and it died again last night. These gentlemen really made my day a lot better. They made it so easy to do business with them and seemed genuinely happy to help.

Event Designed to Honor the End of the Summer Ban on Dogs on Gloucester’s Beaches and Help Raise Money for the Gloucester Dog Park

The Friends of Gloucester Dog Park announced that it will host a ‘Paws on the Beach’ celebration in honor of the end of the summer ban on dogs on the city’s beaches. The event, which is being held at Good Harbor Beach on Saturday, September 29, will feature coffee and treats donated by Mamie’s Kitchen. Members of the Cape Ann community are encouraged to bring their dogs to play on the beach and support the Gloucester Dog Park.

“Summer may have come to an end, but for dogs, beach days are just beginning,” said John Dugger of The Friends of Gloucester Dog Park. “Many dogs really enjoy the beach – whether it be running in the sand or splashing in waves. We are excited to bring the community together to exercise and socialize their dogs on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Northeast.”

Dog guardians should bring and use waste removal bags (barrels are located at the end of the foot bridge).

Friends of Gloucester Dog Park t-shirts and signature red dog park bandanas for dogs will be available for sale, and gift baskets will be raffled to benefit the Gloucester Dog Park.

Additional donations can be made online at www.gloucesterdogpark.org or by sending a check to The Gloucester Fund at 45 Middle Street, Gloucester, MA 01930 with the memo line: “Dog Park.”
