‘Adventure’ at 100 Years — pat morss

Gloucester’s Adventure is one of a couple of remaining knockabout (no bowsprit, for safety) Grand Banks fishing schooners. Yesterday on 9/16/26 she celebrated her 100th birthday, born a century ago in Essex.

In 1988 we witnessed Adventure‘s triumphant and permanent return to Gloucester.
Since then her rig, shown here with staysails, has been shortened and her hull painted black.
Returning yesterday to her home at Maritime Gloucester, after a very special sail (L).
‘Three Sheets to the Wind’ performed sea chanties and a particular song about Adventure.
