My View of Life on the Dock
Summer’s here…

Locals help the locals!! And today, and tomorrow, I need some votes to help bring this potential BBQ Food Trailer to Gloucester!! Check out my profile, all the food photos, and info. Then cast a vote for the win!!! If I win this puppy, I’ll be going straight to the Restaurant Depot for some meat, and heading to the Open Door to make BBQ for our community. Something I would love to do monthly, or even bi-weekly if possible. It would help give the staff their a well deserved brake from all the heavy lifting they do for all of our community!
Then, let’s throw a GMG BBQ paarrrrtaaay!!!! Stage fort is calling!!!!! Thanks for all the help, love, and support!!
Gloucester needs proper real BBQ, and this trailer will make this thing happen!

Stage Fort Park was pretty creepy and reminiscent of a Scooby Doo episode early Sunday morning.

The sun and the fog seemed to be playing tag with each other a couple of days ago. It was clear and sunny at my house in Magnolia, but Good Harbor Beach was covered in swiftly moving fog. It was a little eerie, but still totally stunning. A fair spring day to celebrate.

Buy Oil Stock Index. That’s my prediction. Mark the tape. It’s 1358.64 Reasoning: tension with Russia. When Russia invades the Ukraine the US will impose economic sanctions and Russia will counter. Watch the price of oil skyrocket. We’ll probably be paying $5 for gas. Best way to hedge that would be the gains you get in the oil and gas index. That’s my call.

Here’s your comparison from that exact date-
The Oil and Gas Index ^XOI vs The Nasdaq

^XOI up 22% while the Nasdaq has an 18% loss. That’s a 40% swing. .

Wellfest 2022 was held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the new YMCA at Gloucester Crossing. It was well attended and very organized and fun.

With the help of a grant from the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and NOAA, Sea Scout Ship 5 has installed a public refillable water station at the Gloucester Harbormaster Building on Harbor loop. The Grand Opening is Saturday May 21 from 11-1. In addition to the Grand Opening, there will be local Environmental Organizations on hand to showcase their projects and offer opportunities for our community and youth to get involved.
Ship 5 has been working with the Gloucester Harbormaster since 2017 collecting and documenting trash at public boat landings on Cape Ann. To date Ship 5 crew members have logged over 33,500 items on the Marine Debris Tracker. Plastics are the worst offender. This refillable water station is Ship 5’s attempt at making a change. The trash is not going away, but maybe, with the refillable water station, people will change their habits and stop buying disposable water bottles. Everyone can use the refillable water station and feel they are part of the solution in the attempt to reduce plastics in the ocean.
Per manufacturers recommendations the Refillable Water Station will only be operational in the warmer months, Mid-May through Mid-October. Ship 5 will continue to maintain the refillable water station throughout the summer. The unit is filtered and has a water meter. Sea Scout Ship 5 will monitor the water usage and will be able to determine the number of potential water bottles that were kept from the ocean.
The Youth Environmental Summit portion of the event is to introduce the community and other youth to local environmental organizations that are available for people to participate in. There are environmental organizations that want youth involvement but are having trouble finding interested youth. And there are youth looking for environmental organizations. Ship 5 Youth Environmental Summit is a place to meet.
Sea Scout Ship 5 is chartered by Elks Lodge 892 and is a branch of the Boys Scouts of America BSA

Windhover is open! We hosted our first gathering of performance artists this past weekend, and there are many more gatherings and retreats to come. Our Windhover season really began with the showing of the premiere of Quarry Dance X: The Film, on April 24, 2022. Many thanks to the more than 300 of you who tuned in. It was great to know that so many in our audience share our enthusiasm for this unique dance form which combines the art of dance in the natural world.
In addition to showing the film, we hosted conversation among the creative team of artists who made the film, including the choreographer, several of the dancers, the videographer, the producer and the composer of the music. It was a thrill to listen to them share their perspectives on their collaborative process. There was also a time for a Q & A with the viewing audience.
The making of this film highlights one of the core principles here at Windhover — collaboration. We offer the opportunity for artists to spend time together, to work together, and to create together. And with your help, we will continue to do so.
For those who missed the premiere of the film on Zoom, we’ve posted a link on the Windhover website for all to enjoy. Please share it with others. You can see the premiere of the film here windhover.org and Windhover’s YouTube Channel.

Windhover is host to a selection of relaxing and restorative retreats and classes this summer that feature yoga, meditation, and dance instruction. Please look at our website for details.
And, Jimmy Tingle, the iconic Boston comedian, joins us for several delightful shows throughout the summer. Tickets are available now on our website.
Our signature dance performances are rich with an array of dance styles, including ballet, modern, Latin and contemporary dance from well-known groups and dance entrepreneurs, featuring Continuum Contemporary/Ballet and The Queen of Nori in June, North Atlantic Ballet and Saving Grace Dance Ensemble in July, and Cornfield Dance in August, plus many more!
Live, outdoor theater is back this year, continuing our collaboration with a Gloucester Stage Youth Company performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in July. Lanes Coven will present Macbeth in August. And the prose poem “Dogtown” by Percy MacKaye will be performed on Windhover’s grounds for a weekend in September.
Please make room in your calendars for Windhover’s Benefit Gala on Tuesday,August 16th at 6;00pm, which will include a dance performance by Cornfield Dance and a celebration of the performing arts on Cape Ann, along with culinary delights from Willow Rest, our local cherished market and restaurant.
Visit Windhover.org to see the full line up of dance performances and retreats for 2022.
