Pauline sent an old post from 2009 and it reminded me that in December it will be 15 years of producing Good Morning Gloucester

That’ll be 15 years, crazy. With help from my friends of course.

In 15 years time I only missed two days posting. Most days creating 6-9 posts a day. Videos, photos, podcasts, jokes, editorials, promoting local businesses, going on the occasional rant against injustices. most days I’m up at 4am creating 2-4 posts that I’ll schedule for 6AM, 10AM, 11:45AM, Then throughout the morning after getting through the morning rush at work I’ll get a 1&2PM post scheduled and then as the day rolls on 5,6,7 and 8PM. Thankfully the team fills in with solid contributions so that we have posts every hour on the hour and they have fresh unique perspectives that make it much more interesting than if we’re just me doing it in my own.

But through all of it the very best part is the friendships made along the way.

The people that jumped in to help contribute are all like minded with a love of Gloucester are some of my favorite people to hang out with and create. Out of all the people that we’ve brought on only one probably wasn’t in it for the right reasons.

It’s an honor to head up our production and be able to communicate with my friends that love it just as much. It wouldn’t be the same if it was just my voice. And a huge thank you to the viewers who write in comments. They play a huge role in keeping all of us motivated to produce the best content we can.

15 years coming up. Do the math. That’s a crazy amount of commitment. Thanks to the best team in the local media business, we’re just as motivated as ever to keep pushing, technologically and creatively to bring the best of our community to you.

Touring College Of Charleston With My Not So Little Ellie Bean

And so it begins. My Eloise who was 5 and a half months old when I published my first blog post on GMG, is now looking at colleges.

Huge thanks to Cosmo Palazola, son of my former roommate Tom PAL for showing us around the school, which is basically smack dab in the heart of the city.

After breakfast at new joint Bodega, touring the school and grabbing lunch at roofdeck spot “The Watch” we headed out to Shem Creek which came highly recommended by Mark Ring who may or may not have nearly drowned when trying to swim across Shem Creek with his fishing boots on.

Boston Symphony Orchestra violinist Lucia Lin will play the Jean Sibelius Violin Concerto No. 1 as the featured soloist highlighting the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra Winter Concert on Sunday, February 27. Music Director Robert Lehmann will raise his baton to start the concert at 3:00 p.m. at Swampscott High School auditorium.

Boston Symphony Orchestra violinist Lucia Lin will play the Sibelius Violin Concerto as
the featured soloist in the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winter Concert Sunday, February 27,
3:00 p.m. at Swampscott HIgh School.

The concert program will open with Michail Glika’s “Overture to ‘Russian and Ludmilla’” and conclude with Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 1.

Tickets can be purchased in advance on the Orchestra’s website, www.nspo.org or at Swampscott High on the day of the concert for $30. $25 for seniors and students.  Children 12 and under are admitted free.

Violinist Lucia Lin joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1985 and has enjoyed a stellar career as soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist.  She debuted at age 11 when she performed Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.  Since then, she has won numerous competitions, including the 1990 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.  She has appeared with the Boston Pops, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and the Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria.  She has served as the BSO’s assistant concertmaster and also has held concertmaster roles with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra.  She previously appeared with the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015.

Danish Composer Carl Nielsen wrote his first Symphony in 1891-92 and dedicated the work to his wife, renowned sculptor Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen.  The work is known for its distinctively “Danish” flavors and Nielsen’s personal style.

Out of concern for the health and safety of all musicians and audience members, the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra requires all patrons attending the concert present proof of a Covid-19 vaccination, or proof of a negative Covid-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to the concert.   Home tests are not accepted. Patrons will be required to wear masks and socially distance in the auditorium.
