An exhibition of oil paintings by Rockport artist Heidi Caswell Zander will open in the Marguerite Pearson Room of the Rockport Art Association & Museum (RAA&M) on Saturday, October 26th with an artist’s reception from 2 – 4 PM. The exhibition will be on view Saturday, October 26 – Thursday, November 7.
Heidi Caswell Zander’s work bares the imprint of growing up immersed in the artist culture of Cape Ann, Massachusetts. As a youth, summer days were spent in adult workshops absorbing the enthusiasm for capturing a cloud on 140 lb. watercolor paper, for being a link between natural wonder observed on location to its impression on a rectangle which would hang on a wall. Rich color and connection to place are the prime elements of her works. Caswell Zander’s signature brushstroke, which is used to convey both the excitement of creating the image as well as the value of making a mark, is retained through process, marks articulated and layered through to the final piece. There is an energy displayed by these brushstrokes. She distills from observation the essence of objects, their radiant colors, vibrancy of life, the subtleties of their relationships, their harmonies and completeness.
Heidi Caswell Zander is owner and sole artist of Tidal Edge Gallery in Rockport which opened in 2005.
A Rhode Island School of Design B.F.A. & M.A.T. graduate and member of the RISD European Honor Society, she has also lived in Rome, Italy, New York, and Berlin, Germany. Heidi is a juried artist member of the Rockport Art Association & Museum, North Shore Art Association and National Association of Women Artists. She is currently Rockport Art Association & Museum’s President. Her paintings are in collections throughout the United States and Europe.

Ken Clark Organ Trio have been performing around New England and the eastern U.S. forthe past 15 years. “Organist Ken Clark, guitarist Mike Mele, and drummer Steve Stephan Chaggaris lean on the beat, (high stepping funk, shuffle boogaloo back beat ballad), build dynamic climaxes sprinkle in jazz solos and deliver the goods. Clark controls the B3 like a master: hip bass lines, sizzling chordal washes, feel-good riffs, funky blues lines and syncopated accents figure in the mix. The groove, the sonic power of the organ and a soulful message are a forceful combination for reaching the people, all the way from the church to the dance floor. Can’t beat the feeling.” ~ Owen Cordle, Jazz Times
