Summer has burst forth on Cape Ann with its blossoms, peonies, late evening sunsets, sail boats and ocean waters that are slowly becoming swimmable. Now is the time to bring Windhover’s exciting performing arts season to your attention. Please join us in celebrating modern dance performed outdoors in the natural setting of a pristine quarry, as well as performances on Windhover’s beautiful outdoor stage. Engage with our master modern dance classes taught by prominent dance companies from New York.

Better Balance & Brain Movement Workshop for teaching seniors.
Wednesday, July 3-Thursday, July 11, 2019.
Stay physically stable and mentally able. This workshop explores balance, cognitive impairment and movement by understanding issues related to aging. Taught by Lynn Simonson, creator of Simonson Technique, an organic approach to movement that prepares the body to dance in a way that is anatomically intelligent and somatically aware including chair yoga. Summer Dance Intensive for teenagers (ages 12-18) from
Sunday, July 14-Saturday, July 20, 2019.
Taught by members of the Dušan Týnek Dance Theatre based in New York City. This company has had a residency at Windhover every summer for many years, and they perform the Quarry Dance each year. Technique classes in ballet and modern dance are followed by repertory work, choreography, composition and gyro. By special request, a guest instructor will teach hip hop classes as well. Quarry Dance Vlll comes to life at the exquisite setting of Halibut Point State Park where the breath-taking views of the Babson Farm Quarry set against the backdrop of the ocean are unforgettable. It is a unique landscape setting, and it will be a performance not to be missed. . This site-specific modern dance is performed by the Dušan Týnek Dance Theatre around this spectacular quarry located on the grounds of the Dept of Conservation & Recreation (DCR).
