On the Fence

About this fence….   I’m sure there is a really simple reason for this fence, but I can’t figure it out.  I remember the fence going up at the Blackburn Circle rotary last year too but, while I meant to throw the question out there to GMG Nation, I never did.

So, here it goes….  Why the fence?  Who is in the know?  Does it have anything to do with the snow?   Even if you don’t KNOW the answer, I’d welcome all guesses….as maybe it’ll make me feel better for not being able to figure it out myself.

  1. It looks like snow fence to me. I may be wrong, but where I live in upstate NY, we put up snow fence in areas where the snow blows and drifts a lot to control where the drifts end up. For instance, if there is a road nearby, the road could be clear of snow and people are driving along at the speed limit and all of a sudden, there is snow drifted across the road and travel is not safe. The snow fence stops the air flow, or slows it down, so the snow stops at the fence, rather than cover the road.

  2. Snow/wind block. It is there to help prevent snow from being blown off the island onto the road, thus leading to a constant black ice etc.

  3. Maybe a snow fence to cut blowing snow from building up in inconvenient locations? I never could figure out how anyone knew where to place a snow fence strategically, but apparently there are those that do.

  4. A snow fence.
The NW wind or ‘Montreal Express’ would blow snow onto the Rotary.
Maybe TRUMP could build a wall to keep the cold air in Canada. LOL
