Off the island ~ Pemaquid Point Lighthouse

Spending a few days “off the island” this week,  heading way up in Maine to the eastern most point of Lubec.  We made an overnight pitstop to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (1827) in Bristol, Maine.   It’s the most photographed lighthouse in Maine mostly because of its exposed bedrock that descends from the lighthouse to the ocean creating a unique, scenic landscape. The geological history of these formations dates back hundreds of millions of years!   Enjoy!

  1. Gorgeous shots! Love any pic of Pemaquid Light as my wife & I took our wedding pictures here … fond memories. Thanks for sharing.

      1. Love hearing that – that it will not be your last! If you don’t mind me … if you are ever looking for a great place to stay when you are in the area I recommend Thompson House & Cottages, in New Harbor, ME (thompsoncottages.net). Merle & Karen Thompson are owners & Merle was a fisherman – great conversations about his days on the water & ask him to view his scrapbook. Good eats in harbor can be found at Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf.

        1. I will def look that up! We stayed right at the Pemaquid Hotel because it’s right there at the lighthouse and a quick walk back from night shooting. We will most certainly get back to the area. Thanks!

  2. I sailed past Pemaquid on Thursday on my way from Christmas Cove to Harbor Island. I was the one in the white sailboat. 😬
Working my way east, don’t expect to get all the way to Lubec though. I’ll spend a couple of weeks in Penobscot Bay. See you back in Gloucester.
