“Inventing Mr. Right” From Rockporter Gail Moore

The Lucia Paper

Inventing Mr. Right

Rockport, MA – Friday, May 20, 2016

In Rockport there’s a “woman of a certain age” whose unique observations on life, love, family,

and relationships have readers laughing and leaving them with a warm heart. Author Gail Moore

recently released her debut novel, The Lucia Papers, through her publisher, Happy Wanderer

Media. This semi-autobiographical work opens a window to her world, described with astute

awareness of the absurdity of the behavior and expectations, both societal and personal, of all

the other interesting humans that weave their ways through the circumstances of her life.

The Lucia Papers tells the adventurous tale of a “woman of a certain age,” the man she loved,

and the imaginary man she created to keep him on his toes. Told with humor and pathos, the

protagonist shares details of her life and amatory misadventures with her curious

granddaughter, a young woman coming into her own in Manhattan much like Lucia did in the

1960s. It is a warm and funny cross-generational, cautionary tale told through a series of phone

calls, letters, emails, and visits.

As an “empty nester” on her first trip to Italy, the author came into her own, gaining perspective

on her life and finding her voice. As she shared anecdotes about her past life with new friends,

they encouraged her to begin writing. The author and The Lucia Papers got their start with these

stories.

Available at Toad Hall Bookstore (Rockport), other local bookstores, and Amazon.com.

Personalized, autographed copies are available directly from the author at no additional cost.

6th Annual NSHP Community Health Activist Award is being awarded in June to Gloucester Police Chief Leonard Campanello

May 27, 2016 ~ Joey C

Greetings from the North Shore Health Project!

May is shaping up to be a very exciting month for the NSHP and for Gloucester !

We are pleased to announce that the 6th Annual NSHP Community Health Activist Award is being awarded in June to Gloucester Police Chief Leonard Campanello, John Rosenthal and the PAARI Initiative for their work in developing the Angel Program, a revolutionary new way to fight the war on drugs by doing something about the demand, not just the supply.

This is, of course, after Chief Campanello is honored TODAY as a “Champion of Change” by President Obama at the White House for his tireless work helping law enforcement officers around the country to take a stand against the disease of addiction.

Please join us as we celebrate the crucial work that is being done by PAARI on Thursday morning, June 2nd, 2016, at the Gloucester House on Rogers Street in Gloucester . Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. with remarks from local officials, colleagues and others. The program will conclude by 9 a.m.

Admission to the breakfast is $30, and you may make reservations by calling 978-283-0101 or emailing scoviello@healthproject.org. You can also make a reservation and payment via mail to The North Shore Health Project, 5 Center Street , Gloucester , MA , 01930 . There will be a limited number of seats available on the day of the celebration, but please RSVP by May 20 so that we can have an accurate head count.

Many thanks also to BankGloucester for choosing us to be included on the ballot for their 9th annual “Banking for the Community” program! Beginning on Sunday, May 1st at 9AM, please vote for the North Shore Health Project at www.BankGloucester.com. One entry per person/email address. Consider sharing this link on your personal Facebook page to increase our chances. A total of $20,000 will be given to local non-profits, and every organization will receive some funds. Your voting will determine how much we will receive. Many thanks in advance. Spread the word! Proceeds from fundraisers like this one go directly to helping our clients live healthier lives.

In addition to the above, we are pleased to offer our usual array of case management services, holistics, peer support, group meals, outreach and education, and other ways to help keep our clients – and community – healthy.

Wishing you a happy Spring,

All of us here at the North Shore Health Project.

By Peter Shaffer Directed by Benny Sato Ambush Featuring Lindsay Crouse*

“British playwright Peter Shaffer (“Equus,” “Amadeus”) has created two bastions against the decline of Western civilization in the personas of two magnificently eccentric ladies, Lettice Douffet and Lotte Schoen…” Variety
Leading tours through an obscure English mansion utterly devoid of interest, Lettice Douffet chooses to ‘Enlarge! Enliven! Enlighten!’ by fabricating fanciful stories. Igniting the wrath of her employer, a battle ensues that rapidly turns to friendship and a series of escapades that will surely delight. Featuring Lindsay Crouse as Lettice, this delectable comedy by acclaimed playwright, Peter Shaffer, will be directed by GSC veteran, Benny Sato Ambush. Genre British comedy Who it’s for Fans of Downton Abbey; Fans of Lindsay Crouse, Fans of The Norman Conquests (Alan Ayckbourn)

BREAKING: PAIR OF SWANS AT NILES AND HENRY’S PONDS!!

Pair Cape Ann Swans third year swans copyright Kim SmithA pair of swans was spotted at Niles Pond this morning by my friend Lyn. I stopped by the Pond at 8:15 to have a look. They were on the far side of Niles, getting ready to take off and was only able to take a few quick photos. The pair flew overhead in the direction of Henry’s Pond. After doing the podcast with Joey and the wonderful Gloucester Stage Company cast, I raced over to Henry’s. In the meantime, the two had returned to Niles, but were chased away by our Mr. Swan. As I arrived at Henry’s they flew in!

Cape Ann Swans copyright Kim SmithThe pair appear to be in their third year. This is evident by the patches of brown feathers and dullish pink bills, although the bill of the larger of the two is gaining a more coral-orange hue. Third year swan copyright Kim Smith copyNote both have black eyes, unlike our rare and beautiful blue-eyed swan. I am hopeful that Mr. Swan will find a new mate and if we are fortunate, this newly arrived on the scene pair will decide to make Cape Ann their home too!Pair Cape Ann Swans copyright Kim SmithIf you catch sight of swans at any of our area ponds or in the harbor, please write in and let me know. Thank you so much!

Smith was born and raised in the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans, and began his career polishing his sophisticated and dramatic vocal delivery at a young age. Today he thrills audiences with his New Orleans Jazz, Blues, Creole and Cajun flavored music touring extensively throughout the United States and Europe.

Hurricane Katrina took his home in New Orleans and he moved to Cape Ann, where he now lives and shares his Creole and Cajun heritage.

Bring a friend or bring a lunch to this mid-day concert and enjoy an all-star performance.
