OSCAR WEEKEND AT CAKE ANN
Inga and Jeannie from Cake Ann write in ~
In celebration of the Oscars this weekend, we’ve created some tasty treats:
Malted milk bar chocolate cupcakes with a chocolate ganache filling and a Malted milk bar buttercream frosting (because people often buy malted milk bars when they go to the movies!)
Sweet potato scones with a maple glaze frosting in honor of the Martian (the main character survived on potatoes)
“Big” Cardamom short bread cookies in honor of the movie the Big Short.
Thanks so much Kim.

WHY I LOVE MY OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST, ADDISON GILBERT HOSPITAL’S FRANCINE ELLIOT
After injuring my elbow this winter, the next step to recovery is working with an occupational therapist. From the long list of possible rehabilitation centers provided by the arm physician I wasn’t sure where to turn. Because my family has been very well cared for by the Addison Gilbert Hospital Emergency room staff, as well as the fact that it is so convenient, made deciding upon AGH easier. When making the initial appointment I stated one criteria and that was that whoever was assigned me had to be extremely gentle.
I liked Francine from the moment I met her and not just because she is super gentle, she is also smart, kind, compassionate, and truly knows her profession. If you are ever in need of an arm OT, Francine is the one. She has been treating patients for twenty years, seventeen of those years at AGH. Francine specializes in nerve and tendon injuries of the hand and arm, arthritis, trauma, and wound care. If you are ever injured, which I sincerely hope you are not, but if you are, ask for Francine; you will surely be in the best possible hands!

Discover Gloucester made a splash at the Boston Globe Travel Show, letting potential visitors from all around the state (and beyond) in on what makes Gloucester a tourism destination.
In addition to the booth, which featured fifteen local businesses, Chef Ryder Richie of Latitude 43 drew crowds to the show’s culinary stage for a discussion and cooking demonstration focused on Gloucester-landed seafood.
In the words of the Boston Globe Travel Show’s Chef Duda (of A&E’s Well Seasoned Traveler), “Chef Ryder’s presentation was Four Stars….one of the best of the show.”

Breakfast is Served…again
Last week, Steve and Kelly Salah closed the front door of Rockport’s Red Skiff for the last time. The last time until its reopening under new ownership this morning, that is. As I drove by at 7:30 last night I found new owner, Talia Khan-Bettencourt, and some others busy at work preparing for today. With a new sign hung by the door, that only remained closed for a mere ten days, comes the promise of more meals, mug ups, and memories.

Cape Ann Museum Host’s Career Info Session
More Cape Ann Community News-

On Saturday, March 5th, the CAM will host a unique opportunity for area college and high school students interested in working in the cultural sector to join in conversation with a panel of young professionals employed locally in arts- and culture-related occupations.

Participants will meet young men and women working for the Cape Ann Museum, the Hive, Maritime Gloucester and Trident Gallery. Curators, educators and administrators will recount the journeys that led them to their current positions, take questions from the audience, then split off into small groups for discussion and specialized consultations. For high school students curious about educational directions and college students wondering about what kinds of jobs are out there, this informational program is a great place to begin. Admission is free for students—all you need to bring is a collaborative spirit and career-minded questions.
