Author and Ipswich resident, Doug Stewart will present an illustrated lecture on Essex County’s spectacular Great Salt Marsh on Saturday, Feb 6th.
The Marsh is a biological engine whose nutrients sustain fish stocks and bird life. It also protects shore towns from flooding and storm surges, but despite its necessity, the Marsh is poorly understood and under-appreciated. Stewart will explore the Great Marsh’s past as valuable real estate for farming salt hay, its unique success over much of the past century in dodging the nation’s swamp-filling mania, and its uncertain future as sea-level rise accelerates.

The photography of Ipswich native, conservation volunteer and master photographer, Dorothy Kerper Monnelly will be on display in the auditorium. Monnelly and Stewart collaborated on Between Land and Sea – The Great Marsh.

I went in for their heavenly quiche and found out they now are roasting their own meats and making artisan sandwiches served on their own house made rolls. No mass produced deli meat here- real roasted meats on their sangies!
Oh and lest I forget, you HAVE to try the lightest most delicious quiche in town made right here-

ABC Home Healthcare is joining The Heart Truth program today Friday, February 5th—National Wear Red Day—to help spread the message that “Heart Disease Doesn’t Care What You Wear, It’s the #1 Killer of Women.®” Although significant progress has been made in increasing awareness among women that heart disease is their #1 killer, most women fail to make the connection between heart disease risk factors and their personal risk of developing the disease. This disease is largely preventable, but kills more women than all forms of cancer combined.
While heart disease risk begins to rise in middle age, heart disease develops over time and can start at a young age, even in the teen years. It’s never too early, or too late, to take action to prevent and control the risk factors for heart disease. Take the first step and schedule your Well-Woman Visit today, a prevention check-up to…

Fire up the pit and leave the charcoal insert in to create a vortex like heat concentrated right under our meat. BBQing with high heat vents wide open and direct.

Took steak tips out 45 minutes in advance to bring to room temp and rubbed with evoo and then a liberal seasoning on all sides of Atlantic Saltworks Tuscan Blend.

Once the coals are orange fired up hot we place the steak directly over the coals on the STOK Charcoal Drum’s Cast Iron Grates.

Can we ali about the sear produced by the STOK concentrating the heat up through the Vortex like charcoal basket and the cast iron grates? Incredible!

Time to wax your surfboards and slather yourselves with sunblock as we welcome back Mr. Bobby Davis aka Johnny Carwash to the Rhumb Line stage this Thursday night. He’s been busy changing his tune list and reconfiguring his brainstem to wow you with a whole bunch of new stuff for your listening pleasure. Lotta work for me, but a real hoot!
He’s bringing along the masters of mayhem in the form of Mr. Dave Brown and Mr. David Mattacks to nail down the rhythm section. Also , his son Jason will be singing a few toons. Alfred Hitchcock will be shooting some film, too. Don’t miss it!
Super Bowl Sunday sees me whooping it up early (3 to 6) with Chris “Stovall” Brown and Chris Fitz at Brodie’s Seasick Cafe in beautiful downtown Salem. A really nice venue. Come early and help load firewood around the stake!
Yours Truly,
