Hey Joey, wish I would have been there for Sunday’s podcast.
Palatine is northwest of Chicago, about an hour. Though the suburbs are sprawling and not so interesting, the city Chicago is one of the coolest cities in the U.S. Thanks for the Chicago plug Kim!
I grew up near Chicago, went to nursing school in the city and lived in Little Italy. In fact, I was there this year for Christmas, ‘representing’ GMG at Second City and Little Italy. Second city comedy was the pre-cusor to Saturday Night Live and has great shows, even funnier than SNL at times. I’ll forward the photos.
In Chicago Michigan Avenue, Lincoln Park, Millennium Park, Grant Park, Watertower Place. Navy Pier are great places to visit and shop. There are many great restaurants (22 Michelin Star restaurants!) art, music and theatre, interesting architecture, and a beautiful lakefront. From 1970 – 1998, the Sears tower was the tallest building in the world. Chicago is also known for its deep dish pizza and many ethic neighborhoods with fun festivals during the summer. Blues Fest, Taste of Chicago, Lalapalooza… over 400 festivals.
Before I got married I tried to get my husband to move there with the argument “Lake Michigan is like the ocean” (you cannot see beyond the horizon,) but he didn’t buy it, and couldn’t bear to be away from the ocean, so here we (happily) are, living on Cape Ann. 😉
So Joey, f you or any FOB go to Chicago, I’m happy to offer recommendations for things to see and do. 🙂

Excellent podcast thank you GMG and Community who make it possible!! 🙂 Dave
A quote I put on a book review from my memories that way growing up there : I like the connections to the beauty we are surrounded by daily but often miss, mother-nature creator gift, page 1-5. The tranquility and being born in a state on the Atlantic Ocean, then a 5 minute walk from my house. The (Solitude and Solace, Sunrise and Sunset indeed)!

This was a very special podcast to old school Dave born there in Ma and lived 5 minutes from Lanes cove. I want to say it’s great where people can express there differences is the way we grew up there face-to-face…Diversity is needed if you only look for the negative in life that’s all you will ever find”. Hit it on the head take the time to talk to people. The famous one was Bennie Toki at lanes cove high tide selling tourist sea water during high tide and they came back at low tide and said you sure sold a lot of water. The stories us kids were told by fisherman and lobsterman growing up we were all ear’s…
