Gloucester resident granted Medical Device patent
Kendra McGrath of Little River, along with her team in the Northeastern University Capstone Program for the Mechanical Engineering class of 2005, received a patent November 23, 2010 for the Hydrocephalus shunt system quick connector assembly, a device that can be used in a prevalent form of brain surgery. “The connector assembly can be operated quickly, minimizing the time for the surgical procedure and the opportunity for infection.”, says http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7837646.html.
The Northeastern Team was working under the supervision of Johnson & Johnson sponsorship. The Capstone team cited in the patent are Eidinger, Bruce (Sutton, MA, US), Mcgrath, Kendra (Gloucester, MA, US), Rigberg, Joshua (New York, NY, US), Callaway, Peter (Laguna Beach, CA, US), Macomber, Mark (Norton, MA, US).
Ms. McGrath is a designer for California Closet Company, Inc., partner in the Event Planning firm WingaerChic, LLP and graduate of Gloucester High School class of 2000.
