Cellist Kristen Miller Warms The Season with a Holiday CD Release Concert December 11

“Open your mind and Let miller’s playing spiral in; you’ll be captivated by the sound.” –Chris Hislop, The Spotlight

Award-winning contemporary cellist Kristen Miller and critically acclaimed producer/engineer/composer Tom Eaton will release a brand new Holiday CD with a concert on December 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Cape Ann Community Cinema, 21 Main Street, Gloucester.

The CD, entitled Winter Loves Company, is a sweet mix of cello and piano with a Windham Hill sensibility. It includes fresh arrangements of traditional Christmas carols as well as original seasonal compositions by both Kristen and Tom.

Kristen is a classically trained cellist who has been pushing the boundaries of the instrument for the past eight years with her rich, multilayered trademark style. She plugs her antique Parisian cello into a digital phrase recorder and effects pedals to stack layers of percussive and buttery cello sound.  Billboard’s Bobby Borg calls her music “romantically, hauntingly, charmingly brilliant.”

Tom Eaton, who is best known as a contemporary folk producer, (Vance Gilbert, Ellis Paul, Melissa Ferrick) has had his work featured on ABC, NPR, and Bravo. For this reason, most people are used to seeing Tom on the other side of the glass, behind the recording console. But on this record, Tom premiers five of his most beautiful piano compositions, and the listener is in for a real treat.

The Noise proclaims: “When the holiday snow is falling and you’re sitting cozily by a fireplace, Winter Loves Company is the perfect soundtrack for the hypnotic flames dancing before you.”
