Joey – To answer your question, an Executive Director manages the day-to-day operations of an organization and is the most senior manager and decision maker. Executive Directors are typically accountable to a Board of Directors and reports to them on a regular basis (monthly, quarterly, etc.).
Hope this helps.

If you’re talking about a film, I think the Executive Director is the money guy, while the director is the actual filmmaker.

I recently spotted this title in someone’s email signature line for a non-profit and was wondering if someone consciously names themselves “Executive Director” or if it is an official thing with certain parameters that need to be met.
If there’s no official parameters that need to be filled to be named “Executive Director” I think I’ll just go around introducing myself as the Executive Director of GMG. 🙂
Hello, my name is Joey Ciaramitaro, Executive Director of Good Morning Gloucester.

Hi Joey,
An Executive Director has the legal authority to “execute” contracts; a director does not.
