Things To Do- New Years Day Swim

From Brenda Malloy-

Annual Rocky Neck Plunge: New Years Day

Oak Cove Beach (off Wonson St)

Meet at Sailor Stan’s at 11:45 am and parade, en masse, to the beach in all our glory. Costumes and instruments are encouraged ~ let’s be FOOLISH!!!!!!!!!

For anyone not familiar with this event, it is our annual winter swim/dunk into the balmy waters of lovely Gloucester Harbor. Come swim, come watch.

We will gather at Sailor Stan’s immediately after the plunge for a pot luck, BYOB lunch (this means bring a dish, appetizer, desert, anything) . A donation to Sailor Stan’s of $5 per person is requested (heat ain’t cheap ~ so don’t you be either!). Coffee, hot chocolate and chowder will be provided.

For more information call Cathy McCarthy 282-7320 or Brenda 282-1346. See you there!

  1. My costume will be a full-body scuba suit covered by a heavy winter coat and snow pants. I will then stuff the inside of my winter coat with those air-activated hand warmers.

Also, I will be playing a baby grand piano the entire time.

    Sounds like fun!
