Where: Unitarian Universalist Church, corner of Church & Middle Streets, Gloucester
Who: Cape Ann Energy Network – a grass roots organization that is working to identify and implement local solutions that will help citizens, businesses and institutions reduce Cape Ann’s dependence on fossil fuels.
Presenter Marc Breslow kick off the evening with nuts-and-bolts strategies to help you lower costs related to heat, hot water and electricity, while at the same time reducing your carbon footprint. Solutions range from no-cost options to significant investments, and from do-it-yourself projects to those that require a contractor. Also learn what common mistakes lead to spending money ineffectively, and how to avoid such mistakes.
CAEN will follow with a brief presentation about the carbon calculator tool that members of our team have created. This tool was designed to help Cape Ann individuals, business, institutions, and local government determine their consumption of fossil fuels and also to help them measure the effectiveness of their efforts to reduce that consumption over time.
CAEN is especially pleased to be able to offer this valuable evening workshop, which typically costs residents between $15 and $20, free of charge. (A suggested $10 donation will help us pay for the evening and would be greatly appreciated.)
Marc Breslow has worked in the field of energy policy for many years. He founded Sustainable Arlington and was co-founder and Executive Director of Massachusetts Climate Action Network. Over the past ten years, he has cut his own heating bills by 40% to 50%.

Here is Jud McCarthy, father of our lobsterman John McCarthy who owns the Tin Lizzy. The other day John and Jud pulled up after a long day lobstering in not-so-perfect conditions and Jud was head aqnd shoulders down in the lobster tank unloading it
Now I know how broke up my body feels at 40. I can’t even imagine doing the kind of work required to go lobstering at ninety two years old. This is one tough old bird.
