Last Minute Mother’s Day Gifts

More Womens Tops and Handbags, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

I’m just going to reiterate for the dads of sons or daughters out there that haven’t bought a Mothers Day gift yet.

Locally First Impressions Mens and Womens Apparel in the West End of Main Street has some beautiful clothing and handbags for that special mother in your life and the prices are very very reasonable.

Another “go to” womens gift place is The Village Silversmith with locations in Gloucester and Rockport. They make hand crafted silver jewelry. It’s another place I’ve had success without having to head up the line.

Order up some fantastic canolis from Cafe Sicilia a couple doors down from First Impressions and pop in on your mother for coffee bearing gifts.

The LL Bean Adventure Conclusion

Photobucket

I’ve heard plenty of people say that LL Bean products are made better, and hold up longer than other similar clothing sold elsewhere.   While I find their stuff to be made well, I don’t find it to be made any better than work clothes makers like Carhardtt.  The only difference is that Carhardtt and other manufacturers work clothes can be had for much cheaper at places like Bob’s Stores.

The amount of the refund was for was for less than what I had paid for the turtlenecks and workpants but I wasn’t about to argue.

In the future, buying workclothes at LL Bean does indeed make sense, even if they cost 30% more, because if you put them through the rough work conditions at a place like ours, the return policy is fantastic.

For future purchases keeping the receipt makes sense so you get the full price on the refund.

LL Bean Adventure (or Misadventure) Part 4

LL Bean Burlington, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

So she asked.

The “No questions asked’ return policy is now officially in question in my mind.

“Did these items not perform up to your satisfaction given the amount of time you’ve owned them and use that you’ve got out of them?”

Now I’m confronted with a moral debate.

On one hand I could purchase the same exact turtlenecks or workpants for roughly 30% less elsewhere.

On the other hand working down the dock with the equipment we use and under the conditions we work aren’t exactly your everyman’s clothes wearing environment.

Let me state for the record that no matter she says to my response I do not intend to fight. If she says no friggen way, I’m walking away with my tail between my legs.

The trip up to LL Bean Burlington and the ridicule of my wife hang in the balance of the very next words that come out of my mouth.
